TM1 pc...
07/27/09 at 18:33:01

...dropped through my mail box today.

It's complete boxed Jap original. PC version Win95.

It comes in a regular size jewel case with manual and cardboard sleeve.

I can't play it just yet since it won't run on Vista, I can sort this out in a few days at most.
I can run TM2 no problem at all with Vista but sadly TM1 is a fussy little bast- a little bittersweet me thinks?

If anyone can help with getting this to run on Vista please say so!

I'll give up as much info as possible if you just ask. WHEN I do get this running I would be looking to try and get the MP mode going...

PM for photos, or you can email me at gstubberfield@yahoo.com

This is not an illegal proto or an unreleased version.

If anyone can help me upload pix of the box, disc etc on here let me know pls.

  Smiley

If you have an actual copy of this game, that's awesome. With just one copy, maybe we could make a rip of it and play this online.

Or, if we're ambitious enough, we could possibly hack both this and TM2PC and create an online TM game with both TM1 and TM2 levels. Think of the possibilities.

can you help me out?

I've tried using the compatibility thing in the properties menu of the exe file but it still doesn't want to run.

I need someone to show me how to run this on a more recent OS.

I can get hold of a very old desktop in a couple of days but it'll be such a fanny on getting it working properly (the pc).

It is an original as well and I'd post pics if ppl want to see them.

Looks like the game runs in a higher res like TM2. I've checked the disc and it has the same music from the PS version and the Singletrac logos and TM1 title screen (which was actually a short fmv in its' self).

No 'Lost' TM1 endings though, that would have been weird and cool lol.

I have feeling that the game might not run online per se. Maybe a local LAN or something??

Manual in Jap of course...

EDIT: just to add on the install screen there is a 'T' rating which is interesting as you would think it would be a Jap rating?

This makes sense though as the PAL and JAP PS versions still have the SCEA logo and not the SCEE or SCEI respectively.

This also means that this game is the exact same version that would have been released in the US.

I'm finding some very cool stuff on the disc including the loading screen for the dial up mode and a txt file with a special bonus credits page with special thanks and personal notes from Kirk Baum and others at Sony and Singletrac.

It's not a good idea to use old games on Vista, period. XP is the best test.

There are a select few who have TM1pc and have played against each other, but TM1pc is buggy at best.  There are several sites you can download it from if you are into that sort of thing.

Good luck, I suggest getting rid of Vista, that's where your problem is.

Is there a way to have Vista running as well as XP?

So I can switch between the 2 or something?

Yeah, you can partition your hard drive so that the smaller partition has enough room to hold both XP and TM1PC and you are gold, brother.

I've known about the Twisted Metal 2 PC port for a while now but never knew that there was such a thing as an original Twisted Metal PC port. If you PM me a bunch of photos I have no problem uploading them and then posting them on here for everyone else to look at. Seems to me that would save everyone a bunch of time.

I have to agree with Scold here. Just get rid of Vista. Its a gigantic pile of shit. When I put my new PC together I went with the Pro 64 Bit version of Windows XP. Couldn't be happier with it. The only problem I've ran into is some older windows programs don't want to install right off the bat because of it being a 64 bit operating system vs. the normal 32 bit one. Though I've been able to walk around each one of those problems.

As for getting it to run. I dunno... have you tried to install DOS box?
