I'd rather see them try and fail then not try at all.

Cause if it ends up being good then that would be a great thing you know? Seems odd that any fan would be so disillusioned that they'd just be like "NO. NO MOVIE. DON'T EVEN TRY BECAUSE YOU SUCK.".

Then again lots of fans here hate the new game like it's snake venom in their veins and don't regularly play any other TM games.

The reason i'd say it has an advantage is because the supernatural serial killer story is something that hasn't been done really well in a long time. So bad that they have been rehashing freddy, jason, and hellraiser for decades.

If they were to take the TM story line and turn it into a supernatural slasher with a kick ass vehicular combat sequence that could be awesome.

What I could never understand with movies is why there so damn expensive to make in the first place. I think I could buy a dozen vehicles for under 2 million then higher a few automotive designers and makeup artists less than one million. Anyways long story short I don't get how you couldn't make a campy MadMax style movie for under 6 million.

There are directors out there that known for making academy award winning low budget films, but only a few I know of. I'm not completely sure why myself but I think when it comes to high budget films it becomes a Friday night game of throwing money around like footballs. Despite having a high budget it will go over it. If special effects are way over used like unnecessary, and they've done this to the point it ruins the movie, it will costs tens of millions (footballs) A-list actors usually want ridiculous amounts of money unless they're doing someone a favor. Nicholas Cage would probably want 2-3 million just to have his name in the credits. He's one of my favorites and does his best to play the role in all his movies, and always does a damn good job. This film is too low budget for him though, and not very fitting. I think most of the expense would go towards special effects and backgrounds since tm is known for darkness and gloom. I hope they refrain from a 'down to earth approach' when playing tm your never quite sure if your in the real world or not. Whatever the case I would be thrilled to see a tm movie, and my guess is that it will fair decently among the general public like death race did. Maybe even better like mad max or road warrior. Those movies are still appraised to this day.

Uwe Boll was the reason the house of the dead film sucked.
A director can really fuck things up.. and they all have their own styles of doing it.

If Paul W.S. Anderson was directing.. expect Milla Jovovich to be the lead.

We have to accept the hard truth.  Sad

Totally, but Uwe Boll didn't even make the second film. My point is Twisted can only prosper from a motion picture adaptation, shit or not. Name one film that killed a VG series dead in it's tracks, I'll show you a green dog.

Au Contrair. I think CGI is what could make a 15 million dollar budget worth it. I hope alot of the inbetween combat scenes are done Ala Sin City or Scanner Darkly for dellusional characters. As for actors, BIG NAMES are NOT important. Twisted Metal is a niche market, a very strong niche, Halo while a niche is still one of 1000 FPS that hits the masses, Masses care about actors legacys, lets face it. We love what is gritty about TM, we dont need some oscar winners in the ice cream truck. Shouldnt be about cameos, should be more about storyline.

But... Could we get Ken Block to perform alot of the driving? Wink

As for "Hot Sluts": Dollface, Raven, Krista Sparks, Sophie Kane, Countless Murder victims for our favorite characters (ala friday the 13th) From Billy Mays to Sweet Tooth. But just random slut fodder again isnt important to a TM movie and would make the audience that much smaller if they were totally a built in component other than the characters themselves. I.E. Can we have some fat people get murdered too, they do exist outside hollywood. I swear.  Keep it gritty not flashy, thats the way TM was meant to be.

You have to pay for the hundreds of hours to edit it, the distribution, the promotion, if you do any CGI there are a lot of post production people involved, and of course the actual filming.

For the filming you have to pay for the camera men and the crew which is hugely expensive since they are in high end unions. Then you have to pay the actors, the directors, the continuity director, and all the other non-sense. On top of that you have to pay for the props and effects and all the other things you need to get the shots.

Assuming they do a 15 million dollar budget (And that likely doesn't include a promotional budget) its likely that the effects and shots won't cost them more than 2-5 million. Its paying for a 75+ person crew to shoot for 45-55 days and all the post production stuff that is where the rest of the money goes.

Yup, that's about right.

I gotta agree with Hellbent on this one. I'd rather seem them try and fail than not even give it a shot. If by the grace of God it turned out good, then that's just one more thing to have faith in in this franchise. And if it sucks, then it'll be no different than before it was made since no one seems to think it can be done properly anyways. I mean, we've seen a few IPs transfer over media and it come out good.. like the Watchmen, for example. It's not like it can fail any harder than the Resident Evil movies..

I would love to see a TM movie but I would love to see it be a TMB style very dark slasher movie type feel. Also in the TMB world the car combat scenes don't really have to be that over the top.

I feel that a TM2 or TMPS3 style would just be too big of a scope.

Identity(okish John Cusack movie) had a plot and twist similar to TMB...albeit with out car combat and more of a psych thriller feel.

Ok-ish? I fucking LOVED Identity lol.

I'm still not on this slasher flick boat like some people are. Twisted Metal isn't anything like a slasher at all.. sure, Sweet Tooth is a serial killer, but he's also surrounded by 11 other drivers and Calypso. I think he should stand out a little bit above the rest, but not steal the spotlight.

I'll have to go back and rewatch Identity...I watched it a long time ago when it released on DVD and haven't seen it since. I'm a tough sell on movies...I will pick apart a new release until I hate it, but will watch Robocop on repeat. It's weird.

A Twisted Metal movie would be great if it were about Calypso and the whole start of the contest. You know like the comic but much more elaborate.

It's a good story and people could actually relate to it.
