Yeah something like that. Either that or it could be like a biography of Calypso up to the first Twisted Metal tournament. With the end of the movie featuring Sweets, Dollface, and Grimm as sort of Cameos.

To me it would make more sense for Calypso to be the star of the movie since the whole game is mainly about him. Unless you count the TMB/TM2 story line which is probably way too confusing to put in a single movie.

But Calypso has a ton of story.

Pre Twisted Metal with his abusive family, death of his sister, his boss at the auto yard who shot him, his suicide, and his time in hell which lead to him gaining his status as Calypso.

Preacher could also come in as a foil for Calypso as kind of the first person to realize that Calypso has Black/Satan's Powers. So that when Calypso comes out of hell he isn't completely without conflict and the movie doesn't just fall flat.

I think to make it right Sweet, Dollface, and Grimm need to be a sub plot near the end. With Preacher as a main antagonist to Calypso who would be the star of the movie.

They could also go about it kind of like the Watchmen where they delve into everyone's past just enough to give you an idea of who they are without spending tons of screen time doing it. And they don't even have to do it for everyone, just a few key characters, like Needles, Marcus, Dollface, Grimm.. possibly Charlie.

Another hurdle would be what game to base it from. Black, Small Brawl, Head-On, and TM2012 are their own universes. TM1 and 2 seem to be the only ones that could mesh together, and that's assuming Outlaw were to win the first (tenth in game time). That's also assuming there'd be a sequel, so yeah...

Making an entire movie that only leads up to the first tournament, rather than giving actual car combat on-screen would surely piss a lot of people off. I think a simple intro explaining Calypso's roots, an explanation of the first ten years of the contest, then finally focusing the rest of the movie on the tenth running of TM would be good.

I think the director might have potential of making a good film.. but it will probably end up being very wacky with a serious explosive style. I picked people that are, in my opinion, good actors, as well as looking the part and that seem like they could convey the driver's personalities on-screen. Money wasn't an object in my head, as the question originally asked who you'd LIKE to see be in the movie. I'm sure it'll be filled with no-name actors in the end... Which isn't terribly bad.

I hope they talk to Jaffe as a creative consultant or something like that. I would hate for the movie to miss the mark and not have that sense that makes Twisted Metal Twisted Metal.

Not saying Jaffe should write the dam thing but the guy writing it should meet with Jaffe a couple of times.

Kind of like how Stan Lee has been a creative consultant for all of the Marvel movies. Even the subtle changes they've made, like Spiderman's webbing going from a tablet to an actual silk vein in his arm, were approved by Stan Lee. I agree that Jaffe, and maybe even Scott Campbell should be approached to help with this thing.
