The final TM game. One game to rule them all!

So I have this idea of what if... Jaffe and the rest of the old TM team could come back together for just one more TM game that would hopefully hold people over for many years to come if not a lifetime. I feel that's what sucks most about a new TM game is that once you've played through and seen everything, you're pretty much done and ready for something new again. How about a TM game on the level of Mario Maker or something where you create your own levels and vehicles just to keep things fresh when you've played through enough of the main game? I think that's worth Jaffe coming out of retirement and giving it his all for a TM2/TMB level of quality game but with much more replayability and with today's graphics. It's Jaffe's favorite creation even more so than GOW. So what better way to put a period on his career than to make a final TM game that keeps on giving and stays fresh? And it must still be highly replayable even after the servers are cut. Nothing like Drawn to Death where you can't even play the damn thing anymore even if you want to. The online portion, while it should kick ass; it should also only feel like extra sugar on top because the offline portion kicks so much ass.

What do you guys think? Good idea or bad idea? Or would you want something different in the next and/or final TM game (officially licensed)?

Not a bad idea but unfortunately the car combat genre died even before the last TM. Watch this.

If you're bored of the last TM and didn't like that Drawn to Death can't even be played anymore - why would you want Jaffe to make the next/final  game in the TM series?

And he's not really retired, even if it seems that way. The old TM team (the remnants of Singletrac/Incog/EatSleepPlay) likely have little interest in partnering up with him, considering he quit EatSleepPlay when TMX launched, and they haven't worked together in like, 8 years, and they were more financially hurt by TMX's failure than Mr. "Creator of God of War and Twisted Metal". Jaffe did say he was working on a horror game in May, which was also the same time a Twisted Metal TV show was announced, and we found out Jaffe wasn't involved in that, so clearly Sony doesn't believe Jaffe is as necessary in the creative process as Jaffe & his supporters think. TM is Sony's property anyway, they call the shots with Twisted Metal, and I wouldn't doubt they are aware there is a small demand for more TM but all the PS4 era offers are reissues of Twisted Metal Black and War of the Monsters, plus a playable Sweet Tooth in Rocket League. That's disappointing considering every other PS console had an original TM game with PS1 having a total of 5 alone. Maybe on PS5 we will see an actual new TM game by a new creative team, hopefully comprising of a few members of those past Singletrac/Incognito teams too. And I agree about a map maker, that would be a pretty cool feature.

David Jaffe was involved with TM2 and TMB. 'Nuff said. So, of course I'd like to see him involved in a new TM, if possible. He has discussed the issues of TMX; so I know he would avoid those problems again if given enough time. That said, I am of course also open to the idea of a new TM being put out by anyone and giving it a chance. I gave TM3 and 4 a chance... they blew it. But I'm still open. However, the same team going from TM2 to TMB, striking lightening twice... or 3 times if you count TM1. Come on man...

I definitely fall on the side of "The less that Jaffe is involved, the better."

I mean I would say that TMHO on the PSP is proof that a good TM game is possible without Jaffe. However, I don't think it's fair to judge him based on TMX given the not so good circumstances surrounding the development of that game.

That's told from his perspective though, and my biggest gripes with the game were decisions in his control.

Besides, if you boil down what he said, it basically adds up to, "Sony offered us extra money and two extra years to add single player and we couldn't figure out how."

I can think of far worse things publishers have done to game companies.

I would hope to have the series make a glorious return, but it isn't looking likely that it'll happen. There's basically not a peep about it that's happened in years
