Twisted Metal 1 PC Windows 95 Japanese Port SEALED

Twisted Metal fans, after months of searching, I've managed to acquire one of my most sought out items, a definite holy grail for the die-hard TM collector. Behold, Twisted Metal 1 on PC for Windows 95 ported only in Japanese...and...drum roll...it's FACTORY SEALED! Yes, you read that, this is a factory sealed copy and it's in excellent condition. That's not all. The best part about this is I purchased it directly from David Jaffe himself! This is such an honor, I can hardly contain myself. He's a busy man and it took weeks to finally seal the deal but it was all worth it!

A little history regarding this game:

The PC version of the first Twisted Metal game was used to showcase the Windows 95-compatible Nvidia NV1 graphics accelerator chip at the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference in 1996 in San Jose, California. The problem is it never did good in the Japanese market so it didn't sell many copies there at all. Most Twisted Metal fans don't even know TM1 PC existed. People knew TM2 PC existed before they knew TM1 PC existed. That's how rare this is. It is unknown how many copies were produced, let alone if there are any other factory sealed copies of TM1 PC out there. The packaging of TM1 PC is in Japanese but the game is entirely English. It also has capabilities of online multiplayer, though, to get it working is a nightmare and does not function right out of the box.

The last indication of a copy being sold online was several years ago on eBay and it was an open used copy. Not even sure if it included the complete packaging of it either. There might have been some sales of it on the Japanese auction sites but I can't find any history information on that. I'd imagine there's only a handful of sealed copies of this game out there. Whether another one will ever surface again is a mystery.

You left off the biggest mystery of all. How much you had to pay for it.

So... What are your plans for it?

Are you going to dump it and release it to the world? Or hoard it in your own collection.

IMO that was uncalled for.

He spent a very large sum of money to purchase what could arguably be considered the holy grail of Twisted Metal collecting from the series' creator. That's one of only two known sealed copies of TM1 PC (which is virtually impossible to find in physical form).

Unless you contributed to the purchase, you're not entitled to his copy of the game. Plus it would be disrespectful to David Jaffe for Fireice989 to use the game he purchased directly from him as a basis for piracy.

I won't link or direct you to it, but the game was ripped and released for download years ago. It still seems to be out there...

I am shocked to hear Twisted Metal 1 had a PC release. I heard about 2 back in the day and to find out that had online play is also sick. Apparently there's a group out there of people playing TM2 PC Online.

Regardless of price paid, that is a find indeed. The kid still in me would totally drop $1,500 on a N64 Goldeneye Beta with the All Bonds still active.

Anyways, not sure if it was mentioned or attempted yet but to take a look inside those TM1 PC data files could be fun, see if there's anything unused references of data towards cars / maps.

There is an iso floating around out there with the full contents of the disc. Theres no reason for him to open his. Most of us here have already scanned the different versions to death, but a new perspective is always welcome

It's been dumped years ago, so there's no hoarding here you asswipe.

I wonder what the booklet and the inside would look like. It's better to leave things a mystery.  Grin

Thanks for backing me up on that. I actually sent this in to VGA to get it professionally sealed and graded. It took several weeks as VGA almost couldn't confirm the source of the factory seal because of how rare/old it is. I had to personally contact Jaffe in hoping he had some info to pass along to the VGA team. Luckily he had just enough for them to track down the source. It received a silver near mint grade, which I'm totally happy with. I'm just glad it's sealed and I don't have to stress about ever accidentally damaging it. Here's pictures of it with the grade:
