Twisted Metal fans, after months of searching, I've managed to acquire one of my most sought out items, a definite holy grail for the die-hard TM collector. Behold, Twisted Metal 1 on PC for Windows 95 ported only in Japanese...and...drum roll...it's FACTORY SEALED! Yes, you read that, this is a factory sealed copy and it's in excellent condition. That's not all. The best part about this is I purchased it directly from David Jaffe himself! This is such an honor, I can hardly contain myself. He's a busy man and it took weeks to finally seal the deal but it was all worth it!
A little history regarding this game:
The PC version of the first Twisted Metal game was used to showcase the Windows 95-compatible Nvidia NV1 graphics accelerator chip at the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference in 1996 in San Jose, California. The problem is it never did good in the Japanese market so it didn't sell many copies there at all. Most Twisted Metal fans don't even know TM1 PC existed. People knew TM2 PC existed before they knew TM1 PC existed. That's how rare this is. It is unknown how many copies were produced, let alone if there are any other factory sealed copies of TM1 PC out there. The packaging of TM1 PC is in Japanese but the game is entirely English. It also has capabilities of online multiplayer, though, to get it working is a nightmare and does not function right out of the box.
The last indication of a copy being sold online was several years ago on eBay and it was an open used copy. Not even sure if it included the complete packaging of it either. There might have been some sales of it on the Japanese auction sites but I can't find any history information on that. I'd imagine there's only a handful of sealed copies of this game out there. Whether another one will ever surface again is a mystery.
