Twisted Metal 1 Windows 95
06/28/19 at 12:33:31

Hey TM fans! I'm looking for the first Twisted Metal game that was released on Windows 95 and ported only in Japan. Packaging is in Japanese but the game is English entirely. Preferably CiB and in any condition. Willing to pay a pretty penny for it as long as the condition is reasonable.

After reading older posts, I see that Archminion had some physical copies of it but I see that user hasn't logged in for at least 6 months and I asked him if he still has copies for sale but I figured it was worth a shot asking the whole forum if anyone else is willing to sell a copy if they have it. I'm a collector and that's an important piece that's missing from my collection. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I believe Archminion doesn't really like being bothered about TM1 PC anymore, and he rarely logs in as you observed.

All you can do is hope someone sells it on ebay at some point in the near future. Pretty sure I saw it there once. Very rare game being that it was released only in Japan and TM1 wasn't popular there. Plus Sony didn't promote it. They would rather people believe TM1&2 were totally PS exclusive.

I'm not sure how a simple question is a bother? It's not like I've asked him 10 times or anything like that. Never communicated with him, it's my first time. I kind of find that just a little insulting, to be honest as I'm just a newcomer around this forum and I mean business. If he rarely logs in, how could he be bothered by anything? Especially, if I proposed an offer that would be difficult to reject. I wouldn't think makng money is a bother. Perhaps I just obviously don't understand how many times he was asked about it prior so I will give it the benefit of the doubt. I've been searching on eBay and other sites on the daily for about a month now and nothing so far. That's why I'm trying to individuals online that do have a copy or copies so I figured I'd ask them personally to make an offer.

I'd want one too, but your best bet is to keep looking on Buyee through Yahoo Auctions and see if you can get one.

I've found an extremely rare Japanese exclusive big box of POSTAL by doing that for months.

You've seen it pop up on there before? How much will it run me? I looked this up and it seems like you have to do a few things to be able to purchase stuff on the Japanese site. Can you walk me through what I gotta do? And don't Japanese sellers have a problem shipping to US?

Buyee is basically a proxy service that allows you to get products from Japan. You purchase it, and it goes to Buyee's address (in Japan), and then they ship it to you.

Just make an account on there and give them your address and stuff.

I've never seen TM1 on there yet, as I haven't hunted for it, as I just started hearing of it a couple months ago, but I guarantee you you might be able to find one for cheap if you keep looking. Half the time, the people don't know what they're selling, especially when it comes to computer games. There was a lot with a sealed SC2000 Network Edition and a sealed PC copy of Clock Tower with a bunch of other sealed big box PC games for only $60. My copy of SUPER POSTAL was literally only $5.15.

(Also I don't work for the site or anything, I just had a successful buy on there and I just want to spread the word.)

Is the site you're referring to is this: https://buyee.jp/?lang=en

Do I register on there?

And how do I read the listings? They are all Japanese, lol. I found this site called Zenmarket and it seems to search all the Japanese auction sites: https://zenmarket.jp/en/

That's really awesome about the rare items you got for dirt cheap, I'm jealous!!

I think you misunderstood my use of "bothered" but I wasn't trying to be insulting.

I had asked Archminion about TM1 PC some time ago, like 2 years ago, 3 years ago, I don't remember, but it was to convince him to upload it. He didn't mention that he was selling extra copies so I'd have to assume he sold those already at that point, but after convincing him to share the game he pretty much said something along the lines of "this is the last time" that he would deal with TM1 PC requests, so I don't think he'll be checking his TMA messages, so he's not really an option for you. I have no actual idea how many times Archminion has been asked about the game, but I assume it's a lot, considering the official copy of the game is super rare.

Also, as a collector's item it is not really worth as much as a TM fan would think. Sure, it's rare, it has notable differences to the PSX version, but it was made for the Windows 95 era and I don't believe it is highly valued in a monetary sense. If you do see it in an online shop it will probably cost you as much as TM2 PC does (around 50, max 100 dollars).

Part of the problem is that Twisted Metal never did good in the Japanese market and I'm sure TM1 PC barely sold there at all. I was not even aware the game existed until about 2001-2002. People knew TM2 PC existed before they knew TM1 PC existed. That's how rare it was.

No worries, I did misunderstand it. I wonder why he's so bothered with it though. Maybe because it's just a pain in the ass to get that game working in the first place? Do we know how many copies of this game were produced? I think the game is worth as much to a TM fan as they're willing to pay for it. I don't think it matters much that it's for Windows 95, I think it's just the rarity of it in general. Let's say if there was a factory sealed copy of this out there somewhere, that would probably go for A LOT more than $100 but that's just my opinion. I personally would pay a pretty penny for it. I think if the game did sell well in Japanese then it wouldn't be near as rare as it is today. I didn't know it existed until earlier this year, lol, so I'm one of them.

But.....this is no longer a concern for me because I just managed to find a copy of this game, and it happens to be factory sealed, which is crazy to me. It's expected to arrive Wednesday. I got extremely lucky. I'll update this post or make a new once it arrives to provide the details of how I acquired it. So Archminion can now rest, lol.

Hey, question, besides that physical copy of the game, does anyone just have a damn download of it? I have TM2, but TM1 has always slipped through my fingers on PC. Also any tips on getting it running would be cool.

I’ve seen it online in the past, I even have it somewhere on my computer. It runs basically the same with some minor graphical differences.
