Bit of a weird necro to this thread, but Chad's post literally says the game was scrapped because "executives felt in a post-GTA world a game without an on-foot presence would never be profitable".

I don't see how its Jaffe's fault the game got canned if the execs just thought it needed an on-foot presence that the team (which I'd assume included Jaffe at some point) wasn't planning on having super fleshed out anyways. Since you mentioned talking to people involved in the game, would you say that Chad lied and you know the real reason it happened, or is there some other detail(s) I'm unaware of?

If Sony took them off of the project to make a PSP game, and then Scott had them scrap the project to work on Warhawk PS3 and such, then how is it Jaffe's fault? Are you saying its because Jaffe was overly ambitious and as a result the game was doomed to never be released? Was Jaffe one of the unnamed execs that Chad mentioned that had the project canned? You mentioned Steve specifically took people off of the project...

I'm just confused as to how its Jaffe's fault for Incog dieing and HC being cancelled. ESPECIALLY confused as to how its his fault Incog was shut down after Warhawk lol

You're being a bit simplistic and overly dichotomous in the above. People don't think that way, and game companies don't sink millions into a game getting it 85% or more done, and then cancel it last minute earning nothing - only to release nearly the exact same template but not as complex in 2012 with all of the confidence in the world based on fears of grand theft auto taking over the world.

That doesn't mean Chad is lying. That means he wasn't writing the history of TMHC's cancellation when he wrote that blurb and he was just giving one powerful reason that they were clearly worried about.  You also assume a lower level employee necessarily knew EVERY thing going on with the game.

It's cancellation is long, complex, and I've typed it out numerous times. If you're interested join the TMBO Discord and you can see my argument for Jaffe's involvement.

The TMA discord? I'm in there, just not sure how to find that comment you made.

In any case, to me it always sounded like it was cancelled because there were 2 new systems coming out - the PSP and PS3 - and Incog had been told by Sony to make games for those instead of working on a game in a niche, almost entirely dead genre. I would also assume that a lot of the employees themselves would have been interested in developing games on these new platforms, particularly PS3. You'd think that after Warhawk's development started and the game inevitably ended up being more taxing to create, that Scott would then pull folks away from TMHC to help on that project.

I'm not tryna say Chad's point about its cancellation is the only reason, just that out of everything I've seen and been able to assume myself that Jaffe never really factored into it all that much.

In any case, I look forward to tracking down your Discord write-up, thanks for the info.
