It's fine to use Shadow. It's frown upon to use Sweet Tooth and fly or Reaper's alt special. By the way the guy I was talking about wasn't booted. He left on his own and lost interest. Tongue Well that's my story and I'm done talking about it.

Rabid you should join TMBO. I'm confident they'll give you the royal treatment (I. E. Common courtesy) you refer to.

Also, Muddeh, they do let players who join and break all the rules play.  They call them "wild cards" and consider them an unknown element.

If they WERE to try what you are referring to they would do passworded rooms. I know TMX was missing a lot of features, but doesn't it have those?

I spoke to a few players about these high skilled rooms of yours. I was a little disapointed that many of them even knew about the rooms since it meant they'd turned that God awful game on, but Mosh, Truth, and Spag also said they'd been kicked before.  That seems douche to me especially since all of those players would have gladly played by your rules. That means you just booted them because you considered them inferior.

Why do you keep going on about random noobs not following the rules? I never said anything about that. I'm talking about you guys kicking people you don't know or assume are noobs not worth playing with. You have no idea what they are going to do or how good they really are when you boot them without giving a chance. As for going by skill rating I don't know what the skill rating was of the 8ish TMA people I've heard from. The account I was using when booted was around 94%. I know I seen in your TM 2012 videos people with a low skill rating in your games. Which means I personally was booted for not being known. If I had a clan tag or was friends with someone in the room I'm sure all would of been good.

In regards to lesser skilled players staying in the noob rooms. What you are saying is lesser skilled people in TM 2012 can improve in the noob rooms enough to be worth while in the "high skill" rooms. I suppose that makes sense in TM 2012. It just didn't work that way in TMBO. The way of getting better was by playing with the best players. You wouldn't get any where playing in the noob rooms. Which is why we didn't make a new passworded room to get rid of someone that joined we didn't know or thought was a noob.

The idea of wild cards sounds about the same as a group of athletes got together to play some 3v3 basketball, and some random drunken hobo decided to wander on the court and decided they wanted to play, not caring about which hoop they shoot at or if they just run around without dribbling the ball. It wouldn't take away from the balance, but it certainly would be a pester that takes away from the intensity of the game. Still, I'm glad you guys find it fun.

I can say though that Mosh was indeed frequently booted because he would constantly fuck around with any and every opportunity we gave him to play. And being Mort's buddy, we gave him tons of opportunities over the years. If any banned vehicles were left unlocked, he'd use them. He'd toss health taxis with Junkyard, he'd fly around with Sweet Bot. He would frequently even commit suicide on mass just to mess with scores. I feel bad for Mort since he'd have to apologize for Mosh's antics fairly regularly, and if he wasn't with Mort then, yeah, he got the boot because he was a dick.

We could make passworded rooms or even apply a skill filter. We don't though. I can't speak for the community as to why you or others might have been booted years ago. I can say in those days there were a lot of rooms meant for scrimmage between clans and often weren't locked since sending messages containing the password through the PlayStation 3 XMB is really inconvenient. And again, without forum posts with mention of being booted frequently, I don't believe it was an issue but rather just a convenient complaint.

For the first handful years, a lot of high-skill players still played a lot of ranked and there were still a number of players who cared about the leaderboards, so it was still frequent that you could play against high-skill players outside of unranked rooms. Playing ranked is where I and most others developed our foundations in the way of map knowledge, driving skill and basic pacing/AA usage/survival instincts. Without those skills, getting pummelled by high-skill players doesn't help since newbs won't have the vehicle control, inventory or sense of when to pick their battles to be able to actually put up a fight or learn from their encounters.

Players can still develop those basic skills against weaker players, or with some crash courses. This comes from my experience of helping players over the years. If you feed newbs to the wolves in a competitive environment it just discourages them. It's like saying a kid could learn ice hockey quicker if they were made to play with and against NHL players, rather than against kids of the same age to build up skills like skating, puck handling and positioning on the ice. The same applies to TM and it's safe to assume N/A players or those that deal next to no damage and die a ton haven't developed that basic foundation, and are much better off learning in a more suitable environment.

Me being a dick was in reaction to your clan bullshit.
Honestly I didn't like unranked play. You guys would pussy out of ranked mode because I'd win with Talon/Juggernaut sometimes. you wouldn't accommodate players who didn't play the way you preferred in your unranked matches and you couldn't give a fuck about having balanced teams.

Mort, bless him, still a great friend, was foolish to give you guys a chance because he believed unranked mode might save the game, but I knew better, and eventually so did he, thus why he has given up on TMX (and TM in general unless TM2 is remade).
You guys couldn't deal with ranked mode because you know the game is a piece of shit but you thought you could reinvent the game in unranked to your specificities, but it was only fun to you and your clan buddies.
The game by design was meant to accomodate Talon, SweetBot, Juggernaut, and the suicide penalty was really stupid, they should have realized it could be exploited. If I don't like you and want to ambush your game by suiciding on your team a bunch and quitting at the end of the match to take away your fun I will.
It was funny to me. But you kept defending the game that allowed this. That allowed split screen players to exploit TDM, that allowed self-stick RPGs for Reaper, etc.
So fuck off with your bullshit about feeling bad for Mort. He only played as long as he did because I played as long as I did.

The same applies to TM.

Yes, We've established it doesn't work in TM 2012 because the "high skilled" will just rape the lesser skilled for an easy win. That is not an issue in TMBO because raping the lesser skilled players won't win you the game. The better players focus on the other team's better players. It doesn't lessen the intensity of the games and can actually make it more intense. Games can be balanced due to the huge skill gap and car picks.

As I understand it, yeah.  It's about as easy as the original server.
