Everything Roadie has said here is 100% fact except I was a damn good Spectre too Tongue

Spec was OP even before you discovered the mine rams. Using special weapons and power missiles with good timing meant that your enemy was constantly staggered. And he was the worst red bastard in the game. He was even a worse red bastard than Roadkill because, well, at least you can use ghost missiles to kill Roadkill.

Nah dude. I haven't played TMBO in over a decade. I'm sure you've heard how Aced14, and Darkscorpious has made a server. It genuinely works. Roadie gets up in there too along with some others.

I'm sure it's fun but, I'm doing X1 stuff.

You know what the problem is with you Luis?  You're a friggin' moron who can't handle nuanced thought, but you keep wading into nuanced conversations where you quite frankly don't have the brain power to hang.

I didn't say Jaffe and team didn't know that rams are powerful (and by the way, did you miss the part where Darkside's special said it had "moderate" power - they likely said you're better off ramming as Darkside because Darkside's special freaking sucks and anyone who ever spent any time at all on TM1 knew that that special was hot garbage).  I said they didn't know they were AS powerful and so skewed in favor of using them over the weapons as they were.

Do you get the difference yet?  In TM2 PC you can one hit ram tons of cars if you hit them at just the right angle.  So maybe they knew ramming was cool, but not THAT cool. 

Is any of this sinking in yet?

I'm tired of your implication that I somehow made up a stat just to make up a stat.  There's no motive for doing that.  What does it have to do with anything?  It's just an interesting bit of Twisted Metal history that I thought you'd be interested in, but you're too stupid to even get why I shared it with you.  Pretend for a moment that the Singletrac team DID know ramming was that powerful.  That doesn't mean I suddenly want it to be that powerful, or that my arguments about why it shouldn't be that powerful go out the window.

In other words, their opinion has NOTHING to do with how I think on ramming, and so there's no reason for me to make it up.

Now, you want to know the REAL reason I didn't find the quote for you?  There's actually two of them:


1.  I don't like you.  Simply put, I'm never going to put any kind of effort at all into helping you figure ANYTHING out.  You freaking piss me off with your bockheadedness.

2. It was from a Twitter and/or chat conversation EONS ago, I think around 2006.  Jaffe gave us the go to ask him questions, and so we did. 

How the hell am I going to ever track that damn quote down?  ESPECIALLY considering point one.  I wouldn't even spend the days and days necessary to find it for my friends, let alone you.

the freeze/ram combo was actually Darkside's special from TM1 PC (technically, it was a freeze laser in the PC version).
On the Playstation version it is a weak fire laser, but the manual suggests you do the freeze missile/ram combo.
the PC version Darkside is OP as fuck though.
but Darkside needed the heavy ram dmg to compensate for the very weak special in the PS1 version. the DS laser special is Crimson Fury's special but even shittier, so by all means it seems like Darkside's ramming ability was tied in to his special by design.

I think whatever Jaffe said about ramming power was mostly about Twisted Metal 2 World Tour.
Jaffe wasn't the director or producer of Twisted Metal 1, he was one of the two designers, so it was more of a team effort than the 2nd game. the first game was made in 12 months. 2nd game was given 16 months of development. it's really not that much time considering, so there were plenty of freak accidents in the first two games.

They just need to tone down the ram damage is all problem solved. I know there are no updates but if they were to make a new one.
