Footage of the Unseen Level from Lost/Harbor City

Apologies for the lack of sound in the video, I am an amateur at screen recording and didn't really feel like re-recording the tour of the level, but here is the footage of the lost level "City of the Dead" in Head On's "Lost" mode. As seen in the video, the level is missing a few textures, and is very demanding on my fairly powerful pc's graphics card, I imagine it wasn't able to be properly optimized and finished in time and is the reason Eat Sleep Play didn't leave it as a selectable level in the final game.

i had heard about this City of the Dead map but thought it was a cut map from TM Black. It looks really cool though... nice little graveyard on one side of the map, a city that slopes like San Francisco or so, and a canal somewhere in the center, reminiscent of a tm1 battleground. It looks like a really good map, too bad it didn't make the game. Thanks for recording that and sharing

That's pretty cool. A lot of the issue might be trying to run such a huge map on a engine originally designed for the PSP.

I also understand it being cut for how large the level is. I could see that getting boring fairly quickly.

Still neat to see none the less.

Very cool find! It's amazing that after all these years people are still finding new stuff hidden within these games.

By the way, what is the hex code for this level? I don't have a cheat engine like gameshark at the moment, But I am curious as to if the poor rendering has something to do with the emulator, So I would like to eventually try it out on a physical ps2 with my copy of TM:HO. To me the map size shouldn't cause problems like that as TMB had large maps relative to this size and rendered them without issue. Unless the map just isn't optimized or like Adonael said with it originally being a PSP game engine.

This also makes me wonder what content is hidden within TMX, But I would never be able to find that out because that would take some serious hacking. I don't have time for that.

Here's what he says:

Address cheat engine gives me is 202F4A68 and the string is reserved to be a max of 8 characters long. So the 8 byte hex equivalent cheat engine gives me is 53530044475F4348 for City of the Dead. No idea if it's normal but the hex appears to be backwards, like the Letter "H" in "HC_GD" is that 48 at the end and so on, and the 00 is the terminator since the string is only 5 characters long. If you can make a code out of that that'd be awesome. If you have that value constantly being written by a cheat device the game will always load City of the Dead, regardless of what game mode you're in, even if you were to load a story mode file against Dark Tooth you'd fight him at City of the Dead. Hope this helps!

Mastercode (aka M, Must Be On, etc) (only needed for PS2 cheat devices)
90295498 0C0A54CE

Force level to City of the Dead
201F4EB8 34050015

Btw there are tons of things about this level that aren't shown in the videos. I have countless notes of things I've observed in it overtime (meant to be used in my endlessly-delayed thread about it). Unlocking it in level select requires a much longer code (not ready to release it yet).

@TwoEyedMike FYI the glitched car shadows are fixed in newer versions of PCSX2. If you're using an AMD graphics card and have set GSdx to hardware OpenGL mode, performance is likely to suffer immensely. I'm in the same boat. But OpenGL retains colours and effects much better than DirectX 11 in this game/level.

I guess my video didn't really do it justice of giving a tour of the level, but the combination of playing with bad framerate, frequent crashing, and trying to drive with a keyboard on emulator made me quickly grow tired of driving around, maybe i'll try it on actual hardware one of these days to get a good look.

That's my pal Justin. He finally told me the death match music is actually from "I Do Not Want This" by Nine Inch Nails.
