So I've been getting this problem on my Windows 10 PC that I had gotten built a while back for PC gaming. And I really want to play Twisted Metal 2 on PC again
Does anyone one know how to fix this problem by any chance. I really want to try the mods that are being made for the game.  Here's the problem here: ...

Did you try enabling DirectPlay?

You have to go to Control Panel -> Programs -> Turn Windows Features On and Off.
Then open the Legacy Components tab then check DirectPlay.

You could also try enabling/disabling Direct3D hardware acceleration in TM2Setup.exe

I did all that, and I now get this ...

The game gets to the loading textures part and then it crashes. I personally feel a bit stupid

It crashes on my computer as well if I'm not using DGVoodoo2. Have you tried that?
Plus DGVoodoo will let you play with a higher resolution.

Download Link:

You basically set the settings you want in DGVoodoo then copy the contents of the MS folder to your TM2 directory, and then start the game.

Well I got a different error this time with dgVoodoo2. ... I honesty don't have a clue what's wrong. I did have the game running at 1080p tho, it just crashes when I go to the loading textures part.

It gave me that exact same error message when I turned hardware acceleration on. Did you try DGVoodoo with hardware acceleration off?

Is that in the dgVoodoo program, or do you set that in the TM2STEPUP.EXE? I appreciated the help tho. I should add that I did install your TMPatcher.

You change that in TM2Setup.exe under the options menu. You should probably try it without the patched TM2.exe first.

Did you try a few different levels?

Did you try the game with both DGVoodoo and hardware acceleration off?

And what does your DGVoodoo settings look like?

I tried a different level no luck, but here's what I have currently. Also should I give my pc specs too or no? If that matters or not.

It's really hard to say at this point.

The only other thing I can think of is disabling anti-aliasing, disabling texture filtering, and trying different Output APIs from the dgVoodoo menu. Maybe even different adapters from the dgVoodoo menu.

Can you post graphics card specs?

I have a GTX 1060 so the GTX 1080 shouldn't have any issues. If none of those output or adapter settings changes fixes anything then the only other thing I can think of is to use Windows XP on a virtual machine. I had to do that for a while.

https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

* You could also try right clicking on TM2.exe and running it in Windows XP compatibility mode.

I'll have to use the virtual box then haha. It's weird that it set in compatibility mode
