Car Combat Games Compilation
05/05/17 at 21:38:30

Title says it. Been doing some research and would like to compile this together. Please post any that you are aware of and lets try to get a definitive list going. There have been some lists in the past, but they seem to have been abandoned. I would like an opinion of what the community would like to see. Should games like Destruction Derby be included? Or games like Mario Kart 64 and Cel Damage for their Deathmatch modes?

Sorry, I sort of abandoned this for awhile, cause quite frankly I forgot about it. I'll post my list soon, I have to get back to updating it.

Well, Vehicular Arena Combat is the more specific description, that way you cover stuff close to TM style car combat like submarine combat (Singletrac's 'Critical Depth' on PSX, already mentioned in this topic), boat combat ('Dead in the Water' on PS1).
There are the 'Full Auto' games which combined arena car combat & racing.
There's the Vigilante 8-ish Star Wars game, 'Star Wars: Demolition'...
aspects of 'Batman: Arkham Knight' would count as car combat...
'Mad Max', the 'Grand Theft Auto' & 'Saints Row' series have car combat elements as well but not sure if they count because they are more like action games that have a chunk of car combat within them.
also on PS4 there's 'Hardware: Rivals', a car-tank combat game that is similar to Twisted Metal.
I guess I'd count 'Mario Kart's DM mode & I'd count 'Cel Damage' for its battle mode, albeit it's an extremely simple mode.
There was a futuristic car combat game called 'Motor Mayhem' on PS2, & there was 'WWE Crush Hour' the car combat WWE game on PS2.
Also, 'Destruction Derby' is debatable, but I wouldn't count it because there's no arena aspect to the car combat. I would count 'Carmageddon' though, even though it's a very different style in comparison to the Twisted Metal/Vigilante 8/Rogue Trip style of car combat... & another debatable game is 'Calling All Cars!' on PS3... it's got car combat in arenas but you can't destroy any cars & it has more of a Capture the Flag feel.

I don't count Combat Racing as Vehicular Combat because when I'm looking for Vehicular Combat, Combat Racing really doesn't cut it. The same goes for Mario Kart's battle mode, but mainly for lack of feaures and depth.
Another needed Vehicular Combat feature is weapons, that's why I don't count games like Destruction Derby, Demolition Racer or TD: Eve of Destruction. Carmageddon is weird, it has weapons, but the intended way for killing enemies is by ramming on them, weapons are mostly for fun.
I would count Cel Damage tho, since it meets all the requirements (mine, anyway). I also count the following games:
All the Twisted Metals (of course)
Vigilante 8 1, 2, and Arcade
Motor Mayhem (PS2)
Motorsiege (PS2)
Interstate '76 and '82
WWE Crush Hour
Rogue Trip
Critical Depth (besides the subs, it contains all the features of the prototypical VC game)
Roadkill
And there's more I can't remember
There's people that include games like Rage, the last MadMax game, Necrodome or Redline, but they're mostly shooters with VC sections.
