Drawn To Death News & Poll

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2016/11/04/drawn-to-death-day-one-launch-package-...

Crooked Jaffe has today posted long-awaited (to a few) news in regards to his new title, successor to Twisted Metal 2012, Drawn To Death

Hey all — Jaffe here with a bunch of Drawn to Death news to share with you.
As you may know, Drawn to Death had been available in a quasi-beta phase that we call Limited Access. During this time we collected a ton of insightful information from the community. After reviewing everything we learned during the Limited Access period, we have decided to officially launch Drawn to Death as a traditional paid title.

For our Limited Access fans, we wanted to take this opportunity to confirm that we won’t be making any changes to the moment-to-moment gameplay. Drawn to Death is still the skill-based, hardcore shooter/brawler hybrid that it was always intended to be.

"Quasi-Beta Phase" - Meaning the game was pretty much finished for awhile now.

"After reviewing everything we learned..." - Meaning they saw they couldn't make money at all with DTD as a free to play title.

"DTD is still the skill-based hardcore shooter/brawler hybrid that it was always intended to be."
Except they were unsure about the brawler elements for a long time, and they struggled throughout the Limited Access to find a way to balance the characters and weapons, so if the game isn't finely tuned, which it wasn't on the last day of Limited Access, then "skill-based" is meaningless.

This is a game that was designed as a FREE game, now going to be sold at a price of I'm guessing 20 to 40 dollars, and there is no promise that the game-play is balanced and fine-tuned. There is no single player campaign, and online is limited to 2-4 players. On top of that, since this game is no longer F2P/Free-to-Play, you have to pay for PS+ in order to play the game.

But Crooked Jaffe, after abandoning Twisted Metal 2012, says that if you are a fan of Twisted you will be a fan of Drawn to Death.

So this poll is to the Twisted fans of 2012. Are you guys honestly going to buy Drawn to Death now with the news that it is no longer free-to-play?

Not into fighting games ever, so no.

I guess if it does well, good for him? I don't know how it could considering it's a small title, and this is the 1st I've heard of it.

I was never interested in Drawn to Death. TMPS3 is the better game and should have gotten more support.

DtD was a decent shooter when I tried it out. And while it had some fun ideas and mechanics, it just overall didn't click with me. It was different, but not in a way that made me really want to get it. I have other reasons for not getting it though. For one, I know the visuals were made the way they are on purpose, but I found it a little difficult to see things at times.

The game also has more vulgar content than I care to tolerate. I can deal with some language and some gore, but DtD has a lot of stuff I didn't agree with. It just felt obnoxious. In short, I'm not gonna bother with it. It being a paid title makes me want it even less.

The only appealing part of it anymore is that Jaffe said he might see about adding TM characters as DLC later on, but I can always just watch them being played with on YouTube if I really want to see them.

And I agree with Luis. I wish that TMX should have gotten more support. I would actually like to have a PS4 port of that game, personally...

Oh, and fun fact, DtD's multiplayer has TMX's soundtrack for the music. Or at least it did for the Limited Access "quasi-beta" version.

So far I think I like it, and I'm gonna buy it, hopefully it's cheap. The special attacks for every character is something that appeals to me and something I always liked from TM. But I also feel that TM 2012 should have gotten more support, it's a shame how it was abandoned.

Two to four players does not sound too appealing to me.

I'm playing Paragon now, its 10 players, seems to be much like DTD, and its free (while its still in the beta version).

If anyone here has played both DTD and Paragon please let us know how they compare.

I like Paragon, it is a fun game.

Not buying a 4 player online only shooter. The servers will dry up well before summer 2017. Waste of money.

Nah, the game looks kind of boring and the art style, while kind of cool, looks annoying to play.

And it's not just that I would rather him make Twisted Metal(because that would be rad), this game seems to be set up as a failure if not being F2P. Who wants to buy this? I bet it sells under 100,000 copies in the first few months, then being a flash sale 6 months later. The only redeeming factor in the game is that Jaffe is behind it, but the game has outlived any hype it had.

I dunno, I'm just not interested in this game at all, to each their own.

I was really interested in the beginning, then I fell off with it and lost interest.

It's not that I think it's a bad game or anything, I'm just not interested in these types of games. I prefer UT 99 if I'm going to play an arena shooter.

Fuck David Jaffe and fuck this game. Never again after how shitty he treated this community after TMPS3 came out and we didn't lick his asshole over it, and then support for the online was basically over the day that game came out. I don't see Drawn to Death being any different.

Honestly I don't know how certain publishers or developers can't look at something like this and just know its not going to amount to anything. We already have too many games these days as it is so no one has time for these little throwaway titles.

There are too many great MP games out there and all these communities that are attached to them so I don't know how anyone thinks a 4 player niche arena shooter is going to stand out.
