Is the dedicated TMO server still up?

I keep getting an error when trying to go online. I'm using PCSX2 should be able to work just fine. DNS server 173.198.252.240

Must be something in your configuration. My PCSX2 and PS2 setups are both working fine with the server as of my test on 10-12-16 at 6:11 AM PST.

Well maybe you can help narrow down my issue. I tried both gigarazi's plugins. I'm honestly at the point of banging my head against a wall.

OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit
PCSX2: 1.4.0
Winpcap 4.1.3

You may need to manually set the DNS in your computer network adapter or your router. We've seen a rare issue happen to some people where their ISP will not properly redirect the DNS to the server.

Questions:
  1. Have you been able to successfully connect to any other PS2 online games with PCSX2?
  2. At TMBO's main menu, if you select "LAN", can you successfully enter the LAN lobby and create a game room?
  3. In PCSX2, if you open the DEV9 plugin's configuration window and open the "Ethernet Devices" dropdown list, are your only options "pcap switch:Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I219-V" and "pcap bridge:Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I219-V"? Do any other options appear?
  4. Which game or utility disc did you use to setup your PS2 network configuration?
  5. Apart from DNS1 being set to "173.198.252.240", is your PS2 network configuration using DHCP (aka automatic) settings?

Suggestions (from most to least viable):
  1. Ensure Windows 10 or your antivirus software's firewall isn't blocking PCSX2 or WinPcap.
  2. Try selecting other options in the DEV9 plugin's "Ethernet Devices" dropdown list. If your PC has multiple Ethernet ports and/or WiFi, you'll have more than 2 options and will need to ensure you pick the one that corresponds to whatever your PC uses to connect to the internet. Btw I'd recommend prioritizing "pcap switch" over "pcap bridge".
  3. Try the CLR DEV9 plugin with a PS2 DHCP network configuration (i.e. automatic settings for everything - including DNS). In CLR DEV9's plugin settings, beside the "DNS1 IP" field, untick "Auto" and enter "173.198.252.240" into the field.
  4. Try creating a pnach file containing the TMBO Revival Server (173.198.252.240) cheat code and use it with a PS2 DHCP network configuration. That code will programmatically change the server TMBO tries to connect to to the revival server's IP address. You won't need to mess with any DNS settings if you use this code. Keep in mind that PCSX2 doesn't require a mastercode and uses some extra syntax around the code. If you're uncomfortable with pnaches, I could provide a premade pnach containing that code and explain how to set it up.
  5. Try the latest Git build of PCSX2. PCSX2 1.4.0 came out in early January, so it's over 10 months behind current Git builds.

Good luck Smiley!

1. The other game I tried was socom 2 with xlink kai. No rooms were showing up when in the arena.

2. Yes, I can successfully create my own room in LAN.

3. Only have one Intel NIC on this motherboard. Teamviewer VPN I use for LAN tunneling on older PC games.
...

4. Network Adaptor Start-Up Disc (USA) along with the default network setup on Socom 2.

5. I tried both, setting a static IP and DHCP with just the DNS1 changed to 173.198.252.240...

I suppose I could try the pnatch file a go. All I would have to do is put it into the cheat folder correct?

In PCSX2's "cheats" folder, create a file called "C54E5CF2.pnach" and copy/paste everything from the following code block into it.

Code:
gametitle=Twisted Metal Black - Online (NTSC-U) [SCUS-97196] [C54E5CF2]
comment=Hack by Aced14

//TMBO Revival Server (173.198.252.240)
patch=1,EE,204E7638,extended,2E333731
patch=1,EE,204E763C,extended,2E383931

patch=1,EE,204E7644,extended,00303432
patch=1,EE,204E7648,extended,00000000
patch=1,EE,204E764C,extended,00000000
patch=1,EE,204E7650,extended,00000000
patch=1,EE,204E7654,extended,00000000

patch=1,EE,20316B08,extended,00000000
patch=1,EE,20316B0C,extended,00000000

Once that's done, save and close the file.

Next up, launch PCSX2. Make sure "System - Enable Cheats" is ticked.

Finally, boot TMBO and hope for the best Smiley.

I'm running out of suggestions Sad. That pnach works fine for me.

Silly question, but are you absolutely sure you copied every line into the file? The code block in my previous post contained a scrollbar. The last line should contain "patch=1,EE,20316B0C,extended,00000000".

If it doesn't turn out to be that, did you try all of the suggestions from reply #4?

My perception is that something on your end (such as a firewall) might be blocking PCSX2 and/or WinPcap from connecting to the internet. But if it doesn't turn out to be that, I'd recommend trying out the CLR DEV9 plugin. Its default connection method (Winsock) doesn't rely on WinPcap. Not to mention it auto-selects your Ethernet Adapter and lets you directly specify DNS IPs in its settings.

Hi!

I was having this issue until yesterday evening. I had to modify the rules of my router firewall.

For PCSX2, please update to the new version 1.40 and use the new network plugin called CLR DEV9 V0.6.3. You won't need TAP and WinpCap anymore. You will be able to play in wifi too!

Yep... Just figured this out after trying it again today. Put my PC in DMZ mode and it connected right away. Rather not have all ports open, if there is a work around such as port forwarding please let me know what the ports are.  Now to try and figure out how to make a new account.
