Battleground hacks

Hey guys! I'm currently using ps2dis to find a battleground modifier for Twisted Metal: Head-On (Extra Twisted Edition). I know we've done this before with the characters/vehicles, and I managed to track down its master code. But now I'm looking for the same effect with the battlegrounds, so that any level you select will be the one that you chose when using GameShark, CodeBreaker, Action Replay, etc.

But I'm gonna need your help with this. I know I'm taking my time and trying to get the hang of it. But I'm gonna need some help to trigger the big effects. Huh

With the pre-existing hacks for forcing specific cars from either TMHO or TML, you can already use any cars you want in just about any level (so long as you've already unlocked them). If you want to play in a TMHO level with TML cars, just use the hacks to force your desired TML cars, start the game up, pick TMHO, Challenge mode and select one of its levels. Vice versa for TML levels with TMHO cars.

I can only think of two potential benefits to forcing specific levels:
  • Playing in locked levels.
  • Using TMHO's unique controls/weapon pickups in TML levels, or vice versa. In other words, your preferred game's camera/AA controls, weapon pickup icons and its type of rico weapon.

I presume your real goal is to use one of these kinds of hacks to force-select CotD. It can be done that way, but IMO you'd be best off to just hang on until that CotD thread gets posted. Patience will pay off Smiley.

In the longterm, it might become possible to select the entire slate of TMHO/TML cars and levels in both games' respective menus. That would be the best, most user-friendly way of handling this.

What I'm attempting is some "shortcut" to force a selected level to be what you wanted with the code you inserted. Imagine Death Port in the Head-On segment!  Cheesy

I hope I'm not making myself sound crazy or whatever, but having a forced desired level in ANY of the two segments would be a good achievement. I managed to find the master code for vehicles within ps2dis, and I noticed that adding a 9 to the beginning of the RAW/standard code turned it into a master code. In ps2dis, the command turned from an "addu" into a "jal". I was amazed at the result, and saw that the OTHER main master code everyone else used was directly below it (it was a "jal").

I don't exactly know how to identify what other "addu" or "jal" codes can achieve. I'll have to read a long tutorial on how to do that. Especially how to turn a "nop" into something useful. Shocked

And one thing really bothers me: How can people even know what "jal" or "beq" or that stuff even does if it doesn't SAY what it does. How are people to know the effect? Huh
