pc troubleshooting

WMM won't save a video for me. I'm getting the feeling that the project is too big or complex. It's the largest project I've ever attempted. Literally a movie 2 hours long all of it in 1080. When it gets to 90% complete it usually gives an error message of "cannot find missing files" but this isn't the case since all original files are in place and haven't been moved or deleted (this isn't the first time I've made a video) From the research I've done people get this message even when it's not the problem. Windows just doesn't know what else to tell you. I am using most of my memory, 80gb out of 100, but 20gb should be plenty. I've already started breaking the video down into 4 parts. The first two being 30min which rendered fine, and the 3rd is 51min, which refuses to render.

While saving the memory usage does not exceed 45%, but cpu usage is maxed out at 98%. There is a bit of dust build up on the vents but not impassable. I also have the AC on full blast to keep it from overheating. I'm fairly cold sitting here so the pc should be too.

I've read that you can increase virtual memory usage but most of what's out there pertains to windows xp or 7. There's not much out there for windows 8 and trying to go by info on windows 7 is not working. Things are not in the same place and the entire operating system seems to be dumbed down in a bad way, as in, I can't find shit I'm looking for. Performance and Maintenance is not in control panel and in maintenance there isn't performance, and in performance there isn't any sort of options.

I also really do not want to break down the 3rd part at all whatsoever. any help would be greatly appreciated. I guess one of my questions is how do I increase virtual memory usage in windows 8?

Windows movie maker is crap. I'm forced to use it a lot and it never ends well. I pretty much smack it until it works like I need it to. If you keep running out of memory you might need to make sacrifices on quality or size sadly.

And you lost me at Windows 8. Sorry. I'm only good with 98 to 7. 8 was too convoluted for me to spend too much time with it.

Windows movie maker is terrible. I'm ashamed to use it, but it's free and right there. Good editing software is just out of this world over-priced. Well I moved the tower right up to the air conditioner and removed the side cover and had the cold air blowing directly onto the areas that were getting hot. I read someone doing the same thing with a laptop, and it actually worked. There's a few minor hiccups in the video when I did a playback but apparently the problem was with over heating.

The entire thing was also overdue for a dust cleaning inside and out. I used a micro fiber cloth, can of air, and vacuum. That probably helped as well.

How many clips does the video have? If there's a lot it's not gonna save.

That's how I fixed my old xbox 360 oddly.

55 clips. With cuts and transitions the whole thing totaled 126 items. I think it was the amount of clips and effects that made it too complicated because I made a montage of zombie scenes one time from bluray movies and it was like 4 hours long and took a day to save, but it only had 20 or 30 clips.
