Capitalism = throw-away society

Unfortunately capitalization is the most productive system. The US's consistent GDP is proof. Despite what our televisions and internets tell us the USA is still (by far) the highest grossing nation. The side effect is a reverting back to an almost caste system where the only people in royalty are born into it and the rest (entire population) remain locked in poverty, more or less. One difference is if you don't like your job you can go elsewhere. Whereas in the middle ages the servant running away would be hunted down and probably killed. You can leave your job for another, but it will likely cost you. By having to start over with pay, traveling distance, any benefits accrued, new people, ect. There's a lot to consider here that I haven't mentioned. I often get ahead of myself leaving some people wondering how I come to conclusions. The title of the thread is a good indicator.

Translation: Capitalism (free market enterprise/entirely private) allows greed to flourish in as many areas possible. Greed (the most powerful emotion), no it's not love. Love did not build this country,  Sad. love is second)

We live in a throw away society. Waste on such a massive scale that we rather not think about it. Almost perfectly fine merchandise is always replaced instead of repaired. Everything is made with an expiration date when we are very capable of building reusable products. Finally got the electric car, not from the average car companies though. From a small private company that invested his entire life, and not even allowed to sell his cars here. If the rest of the world follows the US's example there will be nothing left in 100-200 years. Impossible to say how anything will go. It can get better, neutral (staying the same for as long as it can), or worse. Most likely the middle. There's really no answer. I have a suggestive solution but it's a bit absurd. Instead of being so focused on living the best life possible focus on being the best human possible.

other notes

common things we have today we didn't have 20-30 years ago:

Cellphone bill
Internet bill
Car payments
Credit cards
Insurance companies

post disclaimers:

This isn't a whining or complaining thread. This is a intellectual discussion

Don't tell me to go live on an Amish farm. Greed has it's presence there I'm sure, so I'd rather be free anyway.

If you mention I should go with communism you're an idiot. Anyone that hasn't been living under a rock knows communist society is harsh living.

I can see why Obliverate LOL. I can do so too. But anyways......

It's not just the greed on the upper echelon of society either. Of course if they are tight with money, the water fountain effect for money trickling down makes everything below stagnate. That I understand to well. Yes there are 100x billions of dollars out there but, there are also millions of fucking do nothings that want freebie hand outs as well. That don't want to do shit, and get things for nothing.

Capitolism doesn't work properly if there is no give on the top, and no effort on bottom. It's greed on both sides. Not just the rich.

I'll also need to point out I've been struggling like a motherfucker the last 15 years because of money. It's not just the poor either. This goes both ways.

elaborating, don't mind me

The economist John Kenneth Galbraith noted that "trickle-down economics" had been tried before in the United States in the 1890s under the name "horse and sparrow theory." He wrote, "Mr. David Stockman said that supply-side economics was merely a cover for the trickle-down approach to economic policy—what an older and less elegant generation called the horse-and-sparrow theory: 'If you feed the horse enough oats, some will pass through to the road for the sparrows.'" Galbraith claimed that the horse and sparrow theory was partly to blame for the Panic of 1896.

Similarly, proponents of Keynesian economics and other related theories often claim the wealthy tax cuts are, in fact, not used for the benefit and productive asset of investing but rather for personal gain.

A 2012 study by the Tax Justice Network indicates that wealth of the super-rich does not trickle down to improve the economy, but tends to be amassed and sheltered in tax havens with a negative effect on the tax bases of the economy.

University of Cambridge study criticised the policies of trickle down in several publications, citing examples of: "slowing job growth in the last few decades, rising income inequality in most rich nations, and the inability and lack of provisions in raising living standards across all income brackets"

I wasn't even thinking about that, very true. Makes me wonder if I'm better off on welfare instead of just trying to make more money.

Magnum said something about no effort on the bottom.

Lets have a look at our workforce, approx. 17% of our workforce is not working.

14% are looking and willing to work, the lazy 'I want a free ride' only takes up 3%, it would cost the government more just to force them to work.

So just give the 'bums' enough cash to exist, 3% is just not even worth mentioning and it will not disappear anytime soon.

Now to the root of the problem.
CORPORATIONS, I don't believe there all the same but many of them abuse everything and everyone they can, I consider them (at least the abusive ones) the enemy, our ONLY enemy.

They ship jobs oversees to deliberately keep the job market bad, with less jobs we work harder for less pay.

Seems like these fuckers have banned together to fuck everyone into slavery for slave wages.

They own the media so you will not hear ANY relevant issues anymore, CNN will instead talk about Justin Bieber and use him as a distraction.

They bought our politicians and government and with the new Electronic Voting booths, Republicans can now win all the purple states and keep control of both houses and you can't prove anything without a paper trail.

As for the dozen or so GOP candidates, do you really think they are as crazy as they appear to be?
I think its an act, its a way to appeal to the 'dumb and retarted voter'.
If you act as fucking crazy as they are then they can relate to you and get there vote.
So I believe that people like Rand Paul, Cruz , Huckabee, Christy are a lot more 'normal' than they appear to be, its a fucking act!

The GOP wants their voters dumb, the more dumb they are the more they can get away with.

The power the people have is the vote, I have also noticed that the media does not talk about 'Electronic Voting Booths' anymore.

Gee I wonder why?

It probably doesn't matter anyway. Throughout human civilization, those who have the gold make the rules.

We'll be learning to speak Chinese soon enough.

Your post Thumpy somewhat restores my faith in voting. After Bush was elected for the second time, somehow with a 20 or 30% approval rating, I lost confidence in the system. Same with the second time Obama won. They just happen to be margin victories of 50/50, and in both cases there wasn't a definite alternative.

The ones behind the curtains who are really pulling the strings, or those with the gold, are going to put in office whoever they choose. And if they can't they'll scare them straight. You know when they took Obama into the back room after inauguration to tell him all the secrets and when he came out his face was pale.

We actually have most of chinas gold on our shores. Which we won't return. That may end up being a conflict.

Can't tell what really happens behind the curtain but your guess would not be surprising.

We live with a 'throw-away' system because it maximizes the profits of the corporations.

There was a time when corporations competed and tried to win over consumers by producing what they wanted , now they have monopolized and produce what THEY want.

Its not about us anymore its just them and only them.

I use to be puzzled as to why so much money goes into advertising. Millions and billions spent on commercials most people find rude and interruptive, or ads and flyers that people just walk by without noticing and end up in the trash. How can these investments possibly make money back?

Long story short. Mega corporations

Millions and billions spent on commercials

Why is it the price for anything goes up? Advertising is one. TV, Radio, Internet. Don't get me started on the legalized drug dealers spamming the internet with Viagra and Cialis.

So if a ballpark says to a company it's going to have to pay out 5 million for a sign this season instead of 3 from last year, why does my hot dog pack go up 15 cents? Not much sure. Or my long time bank decides to hang it's name on a stadium, and now all of a sudden all my fees are increased, and god forbid you bounce a check now because it's doubled the fee. TV commercials too.

Go ahead and tell me not to buy these products or services. You can't escape it.

I'm also fucking crazy. So don't mind me.
