Apologies for the bump. But due to my increased experience with the PlayStation sound formats I've mustered from experimenting and researching, and replacing Twisted Metal 2's sounds. I suggest downloading a copy of this program called: "VABTool"
You can either find it in the PlayStation PSY-Q SDK from here:
http://www.psxdev.net/downloads.htmlIf not that, then
http://www.theisozone.com/downloads/playstation/tools/ps1-psx-hack-tools-v20/Be certain to right click vabtool.exe and set the program's compatibility to Windows 98 or Windows 98 / ME or whatever the equivalent is on your OS.
Allow me to explain what I know about this.
A "VAB" file, short for "Virtual Audio Bank" typically is what stores sound files for PlayStation, and PlayStation 2 games.
The typical PlayStation/PlayStation 2 equivalent of what is usually either a WAV, AIFF, MP3, OGG, or AU file typically, is a "VAG" file (yes I know you're probably thinking "vagina" LOL) I'm not entirely 100% sure but I'm guessing "VAG" is short for "Virtual Audio Something-That-Starts-With-A-G"
From this point on, I say. Load UACORE.VAB with VABTool after setting the compatibility for VABTool to Windows 98 or whatever, and have a look for yourselves.
Also, here's something else for reference. May come in handy.
