I decided to write a summary of Twisted's more complex areas for newcomers to the series who stumble across it. A lot of information of the story can be found on here and on the internet, but not in one unified place. Some is varying due to interpretation, and I would love to see everyones opinion on it.

Ill just get started.

As you can see from the Comic, Calypso is required to run Twisted Metal after he outruns the demon Minion in hell, so contestants will die and go to hell to entertain Satan. Thats why he's doing the contest. Satan gave him the power to grant wishes to give contestants incentive to join.



Clearly, each character has a storyline, and an ending, but one character was unofficially declared in twisted metal 1, and it was a man named Carl Roberts. He won Twisted Metal and wished for it to end, and for him to live without trouble. Calypso twisted his wish (Calypso often does this, and gives the winner a terrible ending that often results in their death.) and sent him into a blackhole. The next canon Twisted Metal is head on. Outlaw wins again, and Carl and Jamie go to take out Calypso. Carl attempts to kill Calypso, and Jamie wont let him, leading in this ending: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gzrMdM4JuuQ

Thats the outlaw storyline, and how the contest is supposedly unofficially weaved.

--THE CALYPSO STORYLINE--

Okay, so you know why Calypso is doing this, now I get to explain his daughter, Krista Sparks. This is Calypso's daughter that dies with him in the comic. ---THE KANE FAMILY---
This is the most interesting. This is the story of the family that competes in Twisted Metal, and goddamn is it dark. Lets start with Twisted Metal 1.

Charlie Kane is a man entering Twisted Metal looking for his lost son, who disappeared 20 years ago. His son, is Needles Kane, aka, Sweet Tooth.  Sweet Tooth is an escaped mental patient who is competing in Twisted Metal to find his lost best friend, which is just a paper bag.

Now Twisted Metal 2 is where it gets good. This is Marcus Kane. He is considered a crazy homeless man, who wishes to wake up from the "dream" he's in. He wakes up to see the other contestants of Twisted Metal, though he only vaguely recognizes this. But, Needles, aka Sweet Tooth, is Marcus' split personality.

Marcus is schizophrenic and has split personality disorder. He occasionally shifts into another bodily figure, who is Needles. He doesnt know this yet. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IQIPSr4qSzg

Sweet tooth's ending is stupid and pointless here so not mentioning it.

---KANE FAMILY CONT'D---
Twisted Metal Black. Oh fucking god. Twisted Metal takes place in an alternate reality, or essentially, how Needles Kane views the world. Its what he sees, and all of the interesting stories will be explained now. Needles is a serial killer who had murdered countless people. Butchered them actually. During his execution, the Preacher, comes to his electric chair and puts a curse on him, and makes him live forever and catches his head on fire with the flames of hell. Needles murders 3 guards and gets placed in Blackfield Asylum, where Calypso comes to get his contestants for the next Twisted Metal.

---THE KANE FAMILY PT.2---

Needles little brother is also in the asylum with his father Charlie. Needle's unnamed brother lived with his and Needle's father Charlie, who wouldnt let his son talk anything about Needles. Just watch this video, words cant formulate it.

Marcus Kane is also in Twisted Metal: Black as Minion. He appears as Minion so Needles wont know he exists. This is representing Marcus fighting his Split Personality Disorder, because if Needles kills Marcus in Needles reality of the world, Needles will take over Marcus completely. Minion speaks in code the entire game, and says he "misses the old colorful world." (In my interpretation)

The next canon TM, Twisted Metal Head On, follows up Twisted Metal 2. Marcus and Needles are both in this contest. Needles wishes to become Calypso and take over the Twisted Metal Contest, effectively killing Calypso. This is not the canon ending however that fits with the rest of the story.

This effectively reveals (from my understanding) that Twisted Metal 2 and Head On completely take place in Marcus' head. Twisted Metal Black takes place in Needles section of his brain, and Twisted Metal was the only "real" contest. The alternate reality Marcus wakes up to into was the real world, and everyone around him doesnt really die, the just function in the alternate reality. This explains why contestants die in one contest and come back the next.

Thats really just touching base, and I know there will be errors here and there, but I figure its somewhat of a good start.
