Well, at least, i can play 1on1 Minion vs Dark Tooth now in multiplayer.
The Minion's special released by Dark Tooth does MASSIVE damage, amost kills a 1 point armored car with one shot Grin
I like how Minion's ultra "superior" ramming does not work against Dark Tooth. When I tried ramming him with Minion I felt like I was ramming Mr. Slamm with Twister or Mr.Grimm.
All of Dark Tooth weapons deal double damage. Despite the lack of his own special and his special machine gun, Dark Tooth still can beat Minion in versus game.
Here are the tested stats of Dark Tooth:

Handling: Tight
Armor: 000000(more than Minion)
Special:
Speed: 0000(same speed as Minion)

So we have these codes here:
80103F78 0000
80103F7A 0000

Has anyone tried those codes with replacing 8 and A with B,C,D,E, etc?

Shalashaska I apologize, no idea why I hadn't replied months ago.

Like I've said on Page 1 in an edit (chances are you never saw it)

80103F78 is the head check for Dark Tooth. The 0000 is essentially something that makes it so his special works on ALL levels. If you wanted it for some reason to only work on for example I'd say Los Angeles: Quake Zone Rumble? You would simply do

80103F78 0001. Normally it's on 0008 because that's Hong Kong Crunch.

80103F7A is the alignment of his napalm cones, vertically I'm sure. If you were to change the 0000 part of the code (be sure to only cover the last two 00's though, it's all hexadecimal and I haven't a clue if the first two 00's are even relevant or worth modifying unless you want to cause problems for the game potentially)

0000 aligns the napalm cones, simply, on the ground. I think the reason why the guy didn't have the default is because it comes from the head and on some levels. You're not getting hit by those things if he's in certain areas.

https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ru&u=http://forum.emu-russia.net...

And the rabbit hole gets deeper. Apparently the Blade Arma guy is also known as edgebla or something like that, and they're planning to not just translate the game into Russian. But also implement Dark Tooth fully and such.

Also some news, I attempted on numerous occasions and tried all kinds of things to disassemble both the PSX and PC versions of Twisted Metal, and Twisted Metal 2. They worked fine, but I CANNOT for the life of me understand assembly.

I've also tried decompiling to C, after using a program called PeID to tell me that the PC versions are indeed Watcom C/C++ EXE programs. The next thing to do is try to just make a virtual machine with the tools I used, and see about attempting a decompile of both of the PC versions of the game in a virtual machine. If I can get it in C or C++.

Let's think about in the future, an open source Twisted Metal Classic, based off the first two games. I've looked around here and I KNOW that members have always wanted a cross-over-ed Twisted Metal Classic game.

My biggest aim with the PC version is to attempt to fix the network coding, see about making the game more compatible with later versions of Windows, arsing in a windowed mode option, and maybe making it so that there is a way to have AI cars in multiplayer (because let's face it, we're not always going to have six additional people and sometimes, just doing 1-on-1's like you could in the original PSX games isn't always as fun)

Speaking of hacking the PSX versions, I've managed to replace sound effects and such. Expect a video when I feel it's done enough. I aim to make a "high quality sounds" hack if I could somehow get ALL the stock sound effects they used. For example the explosion sound is from some Universal Studios sounds collection.

I've been following this thread for a while and I gotta say that those codes are some pretty nice finds.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks! Me personally I would rather just make an open source clone of the first two games.

It's not worth getting a cease & desist by $ony to try and make a direct remake of them, regardless of whether it uses an engine made from scratch, graphics made from scratch, levels made from scratch, and so forth.

INCOMING RANT/RAMBLE, IF NOT INTERESTED JUST DO CTRL + F AND THEN TYPE IN "DASBAK"
Look at what Nintendon't did with that Super Mario 64 fan HD remake, a Zelda Ocarina of Time 2D fan demake, “Full Screen Mario,” a freeware HTML5 port of the original Super Mario Bros. game from the Nintendo Entertainment System and so forth.

Also note that on numerous occasions Metal Gear fans have tried remaking the first Metal Gear game for the MSX2 computer. The creator of the Metal Gear series, Hideo Kojima was cool with it, but his former control-freak douche-ass hook-nosed bosses, KONAMI, gave 'em a C&D for it.

But anyway, let's get back on the subject of Twisted Metal, I mean who's decision was it to release Twisted Metal 2 on PSN in 2007? The game was already a decade old at the time. But no, all companies have to re-release and extend copyright and make money off of things that were already masterpieces at their time. Instead of, you know, releasing the source code and letting it go freeware. (I mean at LEAST release the source codes for the damn PC versions. You're not trying to sell those anymore. Also, if anyone suggests the PC versions of TM1 and TM2 should get Steam or GOG releases? My foot will kindly take refuge in their asses)

Not to mention more reason to believe that an open source remake isn't worth it, is because they filed trademark over the Twisted Metal franchise in Europe. (You know, instead of possibly letting Jaffe and co. filing trademark for their baby. Gotta let the dickheads whom published it take credit for it!)

I'm not saying 100% that Sony would shut something like that down, but some big companies are so lazy and greedy they feel the constant need to re-new and re-release and "fix" games that don't need to be "fixed."

Their excuse being the games were ever "broken" is because they are too damn lazy and money-hungry to make a decent sequel, prequel, or spin-off.

Not to mention every time your average consumer hears there's going to be an "HD" re-release of one of their favorite games. Instead of wanting it for free (I mean come the HELL on, you paid for it once, why the fuck would you pay for it twice?), they see the need to instead spread their ass-cheeks and take the royal corporatist cock in the ass as opposed to choosing the former. (Company doesn't like it? Fuck them, we just won't buy it, and possibly, none of their products anymore)

So, in conclusion with that thought, and an apology for my long-winded, and ever-so unnecessary ramble. We're going to have to unfortunately just stick with hacking the original games, and give instructions on how to replicate what we did. They can't shit all over us modifying our own copies of the games, nor making modified backup copies.

DASBAK
Honestly the things I would want to do though, if like, we got the green light from Sony and Jaffe and such? Combine the best of Twisted Metal 1, and 2. I've seen before that fans on here have been interested in that. Like, being able to play ALL of the levels from both games, with either characters from them.

Not to mention making Dark Tooth a playable character in general, and with an open source engine that has no limits? Oh boy oh BOY, that would make be awesome.

I also have to say making it so that multiple of the same vehicle can be in the same level. (e.g. multiple Dark Tooth's for our more die-hard and the more masochistic of our players)

Another feature that'd be great would be the option to make it so that you can toggle whether CPU vehicles actually fight each other or not (and actually do THE SAME AMOUNT OF DAMAGE TO EACH OTHER AS THEY WOULD YOU!)

Not to mention making it so they no longer have infinite ammo, and have to pick up ammo themselves. Same with the fact they get infinite energy. I mean let's not kid ourselves, getting caught in a freeze burst spam was and still is absolute artificial difficulty bullshit. (Still, would be a toggle-able gameplay option)

Same with the fact that they can hit you from long distances and damage you as they would within medium or short distances, but when you hit them from long distances, it does nothing to them. (Again, toggle-able)

Last but not least, a damn AI improvement. They can be stupid as hell, let's not kid ourselves. A fine example is in Paris in Twisted Metal 2 when you camp in the building across from the Eiffel Tower, and they use the teleportation pad to get to where you are, and then usually just drive off, continue driving straight forward a bit before making a 180 turn, and repeating. (Sure we have other examples of the AI being a dumbass, like driving off cliffs on maps that kill you, Dark Tooth on very rare occasions deciding he wants to go for a swim in the battle with him at Hong Kong, and other things)

Another thing, make them use turbo like in the beta version of Twisted Metal 2 (but do NOT give them an infinite amount of course, but if wanted, definitely make that optional)

Also, definitely make it so they actually use the shield, invisibility, jumping, and other advanced attacks they neglect to their advantage at times, or at least have them use it at all. (Once again, optional)

Something I'd definitely recommend amongst the options would be bug fixes. For example, Darkside's constant need in the first Twisted Metal to spin at high velocities like a maniac. If that's not a bug or an oversight, god almighty SingleTrac had a strange sense of humor revolving around that at the time.

Another would be the ability to go out of bounds in some levels with the faster vehicles without being killed in Twisted Metal 2.

Levels possible on:
Quake Zone Rumble,
Paris: Monumental Disaster,
and Hong Kong Crunch (there are videos of this, Twister is usually best for this, and a knack for precision and accuracy for getting out of bounds)

Next would be extended multiplayer options, like two player co-op for both the TM1 and TM2 campaign. I found it odd they never implemented co-op in the PC version of Twisted Metal 2 (nor attempted in the PC version of Twisted Metal 1)

Also, twelve player support. (Depending on the map) Seems reasonable since the maximum cars of mayhem in question in Twisted Metal 2 is in Holland, during a two player cooperative campaign. Eight of the cars being CPU controlled, and two of them being player controlled. Ten in total, but still. (And if we could have user-made maps, hoooly SHIT!)

Gripe of my own, especially since Sweet Tooth was a childhood favorite. But simply just NOT have him be a secret character. That, and let him have passwords for stages too (God dammit, he's not OP like Minion, dafuq SingleTrac?) Thankfully, the PC version introduced saving. (One of the best things the PC version did besides the awesome-ass multiplayer you have to admit)

I could have simply just said something cliché, small, or useless but I can't speak for the rest of the community, or what's left of the Twisted Metal fanbase. But I'm still passionate we can still get the "Twisted Metal 3" we were craving in the late 1990's and early 2000's that we never truly got.

I'm aware of this page:
http://tm2alliance.yuku.com/

I'll never give up hope, I'm feeling rather optimistic about this as we still have a shot of making it happen if we get the right people involved. (Even if they don't know dick about Twisted Metal, but we do, and they enjoy helping us making this a reality)

I'd say at best, a decent compensation would be to allow Sony to advertise in the game itself (shit, God knows I'd rather it not be that way, but if we COULD make this happen oh dear lord)

Now, I may have only joined this wonderful forum in 2013 and have said so little on here. I'm still just as much of a Twisted Metal fan as pretty much anyone on here, and god dammit, let alone, I'm just as passionate. It was a big part of my childhood, and has had a huge impact on my life.

(Not really interested in talkin' about the 989 Studios "games" in this post, I will share my honest opinion about it though in the thread "What level of a fan are you?" But don't worry, it's still pretty negative since I've grown up, learned about monopoly, corporate greed, the fact it wasn't made by the original team, and look back and ask myself: "the fuck did I see in these besides a few things here and there?")

I, of course found Black, Small Brawl, and Head On awesome. But sadly Twisted Metal PS3 a disappointment. In my opinion it felt like ESP was more interested in closing down the series after TMHOETET on PS2. (They sure gave the vibe at the end of Twisted Metal: The Dark Past, the documentary on the disc)

I had the idea of this also not just because of that, but also due to the lack of implementation of the multi-tap (Only two players? Really? In 2008? I'd forgive the lack of online had it been they at least had multi-tap and console linking support, or perhaps they ran out of time, but I digress)

Also, on a final note here. God help me if someone makes accurate, awesome MIDI versions of the soundtracks from the first two games. I would probably defecate my pants thoroughly.
