TLMS and TH can definitely be fun, but when played in ranked, they don't hold the same level of depth that standard TDM does because of their explicit objectives. I really like TLMS since preserving your life and minimizing your team's number of deaths is more important than purely dealing damage, but the settings for ranked Team Last Man Standing suck because of pooled lives, which basically encourages newb hunting to drain the enemy team's lives before hunting the veterans. Being the first one to die once your team's lives have been depleted is frustrating, especially if it's your first death all match. Having individual lives (as you can in unranked) works far better, since newbs can't drain your full life reserve, and it's more valuable to play as a team so your team doesn't lose players early, as it's far harder to play while outnumbered in the latter portions of the match no matter how many individual lives you have.
Team Hunted can also be neat with large teams and the right settings, since there's plenty of roles for players to take on, such as attacking the enemy team's hunted, protecting their own hunted, weakening the enemy team's players for their own team's hunted to score on, developing a killstreak for when your turn as the hunted comes around, etc.. Unfortunately, most ranked matches usually boil down to the hunted getting easy kills off newbs, and the mode doesn't work well on large maps since it's too easy to prevent the enemy team from scoring by having your hunted use a lightweight vehicle like Crimson Fury, and just run from enemies constantly. TH is another mode that works better for unranked matches, and teams consisting of solely veteran players since the learning curve for this game is steep enough as is, and throwing in extra objectives is too difficult for someone who is still just learning the basics. For newer players, TDM is usually the best mode to play since having allies and less enemies makes things less frustrating, and if you manage to contribute more damage for your team than the number of deaths you take, then you'll a valuable player.
