Nuke Mode
01/19/14 at 21:01:02

I was waiting in a team deathmatch room with a lot of people and something funny happened. When the timer for the game to start was almost over, the host switch team deathmatch to Nuke mode. I saw the icon changed to a missile and I switched my car to Death Warrant on time, while everyone else were still in their big cars and Juggernauts. It felt good to play this mode again. Grin I miss hearing that quote: "Your team has switched to offense. Destroy the enemy team's statue". This was a good trick to get people to play this underrated mode. Unfortunately the settings were bad. There was only one launcher and it's the one that doesn't move. Only three minutes per round. I think the Juggernaut players didn't noticed it was Nuke mode because he was driving around killing cars, when he could have been helping me with launching the missile. Have you played a Nuke match recently?

Nuke is awesome, I love that game mode, but unfortunately, rarely get to play it. Like I've stated before, I wish there were more weapons & vehicle types in the game, it's absolutely despicable that the plans for DLC were canceled, as YJ's 360 spikes would have been a blast to play that mode with. I also wish we could have been given the option to have both enemy statues active simultaneously like ESP demoed at E3 2011.

They demoed that?  Don't remember that, but that would be amazing.  Also agree 100% with YJ.

Sadly, Luis, that is the only way to play modes other than DM/TDM.  Make a DM lobby and switch to Nuke/LMS/Hunted and then play, but then everyone moans and cries about it.

I was playing a Nuke match and the game froze, just when I doing so well in protecting the statue in the first inning. There was also a glitch that the enemy leader was floating in the air with no turrent and I couldn't take it for a few seconds.

Yes, David & Scott demoed Nuke Mode with two statues instead of one at E3 2010 I mean, where both teams work defense and offense simultaneously against eachother.

There also appears to have been a game mode that was mentioned before the game was final, called Race to Vegas which entailed one team protecting a Juggernaut traversing a large landscape of what appears to have been made into a smaller version called Diablo Pass, while the other team attempts at destroying the juggernaut before it reaches vegas & detonates a nuclear bomb.

Very cool things like the mode mentioned above did not come to fruition, it would have been interesting to play & a good change of pace for the franchise.

Black Rock stadium was also to have a pitch black segment where all the lights of the stadium would deplete, forcing all drivers to rely on their headlights. There were also statues on either side of the Black Rock Stadium where players would be able to take control of weapons at the top the statue heads to rain terror at enemies from high above. A real shame, that didn't make it either... I wish that there were more traps too.

I never knew about that beta Nuke mode. That sounds like it will only work when there's a lot of people. I mean your teammate is trying to launch a missile, while the other team is doing the same thing. What are you gonna do? Protect your teammate or kill the enemy that is about to launch?

Very true, very chaotic. Talon, vermin & sweet bot are imperative for the game mode, but hardly anyone plays any way. If you had enough players, it would work though.

Metro Square is like the hardest stage to destroy the missile. It will always fly where the water is. Anyone got any advice on destroying it? I have come up with a strategy for this mode. Use Kamikaze to destroy the statue. When the inning changes to defending, I will kill myself with super mines and use Vermin. I'm evil like that now. It actually worked in the room I was in. The downside to this is the long respawn at the beginning.

I just remembered that there's a draw bridge, where the water is.

Here's what I do.
See the bridge you mentioned at the end? Here's what. the best two places to hunt down missiles in Metro are the bridge and the subway trail. with two teammates attacking you'll mostly get the missile wherever it goes.

The bridge has its "ups and downs" and by that I mean that the end where you get to your statue is higher than the middle of the bridge, same level with the other end. So one of the teammates stays there, since it's higher you'll get clean shots on the missile once it goes there and snipers are the best way to start attacking the missile from there, let alone the fire and homing missiles which you can refill from the bridge, and if the missile was low enough your machine guns will target it as well. if the Nuker was "smart" enough to get the missile low enough on the bridge, you can even jump and sacrifice yourself to destroy it.

Now the guy on the subway must make sure to keep up with the missile for in case it went away from the bridge to the buildings, there he can pull a few shots on it and if the missile goes straight it gets absolutely opened for both of your attacks, and wherever it goes it's vulnerable.

the only downside to that plan is if the Nuker is trained enough to get the missile below the bridge right above the water, and keep it there. I haven't seen many people do that since you have more chances of crashing the missile, but it's worth its efforts. Only hope there is to get three players targeting the missile for these 3-4 seconds it takes to get from under the bridge to the statue.

Hope I helped.
