Technical issues with the game's audio

I recently re-installed my old Denon 5.2 receiver from 1998. It has Dolby Digital and Pro Logic but when I select 5.1 surround in the game the sound stops and when I select Pro Logic II it doesn't work either. I'm pretty sure it's my own stupidity, though. Can anyone help?

Actually its not you at all. I own a modern receiver, only a few years old, and I can't get my receiver to output Dolby anything although the back of the case reads that it is Dolby Digital compatible. It isn't from my experience. My receiver automatically outputs DTS. Can your receiver do the same?

Just did a bit of testing...

My PS3 is connected via toslink to a JVC surround receiver from 2002 (supports DD 5.1, DTS 5.1, and Pro Logic II).

TMX seems to heavily rely on what's been set in the XMB's sound settings, with a preference for DTS.

If both DD and DTS are enabled in the XMB's sound settings, TMX will go with DTS... and stubbornly refuse to output anything else if a different format gets selected in its sound format options.

It is possible to force TMX into outputting DD if DTS is set to disabled in the XMB's sound settings, but it'll still refuse to output any other sound formats.

So, enabling Pro Logic II should be as simple as disabling both DD and DTS in the XMB's sound settings, right? Wrong... In that scenario, only Stereo TV and Stereo Headphones will appear in TMX's sound format options. So it looks like Pro Logic II may be SOL in TMX Sad.
