I don't think it's happening.

So many years of hype and it bombs like this, it's difficult to really say if there is anything it can redeem. Sony may just throw the license over to someone else like they did back in the PS1 days when the original developing studios dissolved then. Then that developer may screw it up and maybe there might be a rise for the original team to try again?

Chances of that are even less likely, and even if it did. I hold doubt that the same results will happen. It worked then but I don't think it'll be as good now.

I also think that another TM title is quite unlikely, mainly owing to TMX's poor sales. Maybe there will be a small installment released on PSN, but i am really skeptical. The last game ended on some sort of cliffhanger and we may never know what happens afterward. What a pity.
Also, i think people are not as much into car combat games as they were in the 90's. I mean, Twisted Metal and Destruction Derby were the pioneers of a new genre of gaming, and people were really interested in it, but nowadays, not anymore...

It's all about getting 'em pew pews in and making it on top of teh all-time server list for most kills evar. I don't think it's really that people aren't into the car combat thing, since it kinda shares qualities with FPS games. Most particularly, the pew pew. I guess past that, the relation ends.

I think what irritates me a bit is that, not enough people are that known with TM these days as they were then. The recognition has shifted, new franchises are out that people known while some other franchises that have been there for a while will take a little bit to gain a spark again.

It's like, for example. Crash Bandicoot. He's been one of Sony's staples in the beginning, had a lot of PS1 titles. Entered the PS2 era with some titles, then went handheld etc. But where the hell was he in the PS3 time all those years? Not a sound was heard and the spotlight went to the new and upcoming franchises that started in the PS2 era and worked their way into the PS3 era and now going into the current gen.

Would anyone give a shit if Crash were to come back with a new title somepoint in the future? Some people, maybe. But for the most part, the fanbase has left the farm.

TM, had it's days in the PS1 era, got about three titles in the PS2 era (If you can count TMBO/TMHOETE which was mainly a port of TMHO) and late into the PS3 time, got something in finally. I honestly cannot blame the developers heavily, but I will blame Sony's irresponsibility with handling their franchises. Not getting them out there enough or really giving a shit. The spotlight is what is pulling them in the most money. God Of War...Killzone...Infamous...Uncharted...Ratchet and Clank etc

TM is looking like a by-gone franchise to me, and TMA is/was one of the things that really gave a shit about the franchise as a whole. In a fanbase in which I think is compromised of TM 3/4 fanboys. No, really. Almost anyone around where I am, I ask some of them about TM. The response I get is "yeah, I remember the Rob Zombie music from one of those games..." to "Wasn't there a game I remember which had a construction truck with a drill on the end of it?" Ugh...

No, because the game is not what it use to be. The same with Spyro.

Nope.

Spyro, I really don't know what the fuck is wrong with him. This whole Skylander thing is rubbing me off like it's attempt Pokemon-meets-Spyro mesh that isn't working. Plus investing so much money into that shit doesn't look worth it in the long run. Just feels all gimmick to me.

I've read up curiously on what was going on with Crash just for shits and giggles. Apparently it's just rumor and circulation that they're taking their sweet time on figuring out how to "revive" the series into next gen. I'll believe it when I see it.

Just like I'll believe it when I see it if, at all, if TM is going to even bother showing up on the PS4 at anytime in it's lifespan.
