I got my shit wrong earlier.
When I said cross platform between PS4/Vita that should have been PS3/Vita since I just can't see devs putting money into a car combat game when the genre has proved unsuccessful in THIS generation.
Only TM has come close.
ESP,LBI and Superbot have all parted ways with Sony. Can you really see that being the case if all three of those franchises (TM, Starhawk PSASBR) had done well?
If they had I'm betting the studios would have been kept on for DLC, sequels etc.
It appears even All-Stars may not be getting any more DLC after the free stuff.
Looking at the worldwide sales figures I'd say All-Stars is selling pretty well considering it came out in Nov as well?
My new prediction on TM's future is:
LIKELY(ish): a small downloadable game for PS3 and Vita released in the next 2 years.
UNLIKELY: a small downloadable game for PS4 released at the back end of the console's life cycle when dev prices have come down.
I think that's what we have to look forward to ppl
Your welcome to continue your impending TMX brawl...
Arch, you're forgetting something. NONE of those studios were owned by Sony. So they aren't really "parting ways." Sony just isn't hiring them for any projects right now.
You can bail on car combat all you like. Until I get a car combat game that is well made, I'm not going to piss on the genre, I'm going to blame the people who created it and hope other developers realize that if you make sub par product it will never sell.
A perfect example is hack 'n slash games. The last decade saw several shovel worthy games that had highly suspect quality. They didn't sell and people blamed the genre.
Then suddenly Activision does a decent one (not perfect - BUT DECENT) with Diablo 3, and Torchlight does well and people suddenly care about it again.
It's not the genre people, we just haven't had anything worth writing home about for a long, long time.
