Alright, well, TM1 is now an ISO, sitting in a virtual drive, and the no CD error is gone.  NOW I am getting the infamous "You need a 32 bit windows to run" message thing.  So, well, I'm stuck now.

My installer opens but won't actually install. TM2 PC works fine but this is a bit more picky. I think I can figure this out with just compatibility mode on though.
Wait nevermind I got to the CDROM message now. hmmm...

Yea, I had that too, so then you need to make it an ISO image, put in virtual drive, and then hope it runs on your OS.  Otherwise, you get stuck like me with the message claiming you need a 32 bit OS

Put all the game files into a program like MagicISO, etc., then once made into an ISO, put all the ISO game files into a virtual drive on your computer.

In case anyone was having problems making a iso themselves...

http://www.sendspace.com/file/c84mcz

This file contains a .bin/cue of tm1pc, which can be mounted with daemon tools/magic disc etc.

I've gotten it to install and run on xp before.

Closest I could get to running it on windows 7 was having it give me an error message saying "The program tried changing to an unsupported video mode (mode: 320 x 240 in 8 bit color).
Please make sure your computer supports the minimum requirements).

Turns out the lowest resolution my video card can do is 640 x 480. I even tried adding 320x240 as a custom resolution in my computers registry, but my video card just won't do it.

I do however have this game working on an old xp laptop, if anyone else has this game working I'd like to try playing someone online.

I used to have 2 xp computers in my house and I tested the online capabilities of the game that way and it worked.

TM1PC online? That would definitely be extrordinary. Nothing like it's successor mechanically, so it would be very interesting to see indeed.

I'd love to see a video of two people playing that online!  I'm going to try and get TM1PC running on an old netbook with XP on it.  It's a small computer, and extremely weak, so hopefully it can handle a tunneling program if I can get the game to install...

Just a tip, when I installed it I could only get the install pack to finish by using NT compatibility mode, but for running the game after installation I use windows 95 compatibility mode.

If it works for you, you'll notice that the game runs very fast, and the main menu will only be visible a couple seconds before it runs a demo sequence.

It will slow the game down a bit if you turn the resolution and detail level up to the maximum.

TM1PC's netcode is incomplete. Even LAN mode is dysfunctional. The game desynchronizes as you play. After about 120 seconds both players will be fighting the same enemies in entirely different locations and time then everything goes haywire and it eventually crashes or becomes unplayable.

Theoretically TM2PC's netcode could work since they are the same engine on the same game. But without the source code to both games i imagine it would be impossible.

Also theoretically if you had a fast enough connection the game may not desynch. But i don't think that can be true because even a 10mb lan connection is far more data then the game actually sends while playing. So it's most likely that TM1PC's online is simply an unfinished alpha function.

Well that's disappointing.  Twisted Metal 1 just seems like an unfinished/rushed game overall.  Was really looking forward to maybe playing that online.

Also, how would you use the TM2 net code with TM1?  I know the games are extremely similar and even the files are similar.

You would need the source code and programming ability. Or else you would never be able to tie together the intricate arteries that connect the online mode to the raw game.

Without the source code it would be like trying to do a heart transplant with a shotgun and a vacuum cleaner.

It may be possible to play TM1 online however. Using the ePSXe emulator and Kalieria. I wanted to try and use this to get Critical Depth running online but i never had the time to experiment with it. It should work though.

Try it out. You know for use with your legitimate copy of TM1. Also don't forget to get a copy of the PSX BIOS you need them for the emulator to work. You legally own the rights to download and use the PSX BIOS file by having a PS1.

Nay, the server can be rebuilt completely from the client, with about 1500+ hours, lots of coffee, and willpower.  Also, a degree in engineering helps.

I have the actual TM1 disc, but sold my PS1 years ago...
Besides, I'm not too sure how the PS1 emu would run on my laptop.  It has some pretty low specs...

On topic, has anyone finally gotten the ISO to work on Win 7 64 bit?
