Ok, so we all know there's some sort of issue causing the stat server dependent Twisted Metal trophies from glitching. Using the following method, you should be able to finally get IAMSWEETTOOTH, one of the hardest PS3 platinum trophies out there due this unfortunate glitch. Currently there are only 87 out of 40,215 (0.21% of players tracked) that have the platinum at
http://bit.ly/VZSj7n, putting in the ranks of the hardest PS3 trophies to get (almost impossible).
There were mixed reports over
http://bit.ly/ozyQdm that resetting your save data would grant you these elusive stat tracking trophies. Unfortunately I tried that to no avail, several times. Someone suggested that you might want to try only hosting games, and that unfortunately seems to be the golden warthog that gets the trophies to pop. It was the only method that worked for me, after trying several including brute force of just wracking up kills.
Apparently, the glitch is occurring either when you DO NOT host all your games, or because of some tracking error when moving between self-hosted, and non-hosted games. It's not as simple as not getting credit for the stats on non-hosted games which people seemed to think before. If you enter a game you are NOT hosting, the game will most likely glitch the stat tracking, and make it impossible to get the trophies until you start all over yet again. Unfortunately, once it glitches, it's glitched.
So, the steps to get the stat tracking trophies (Point, Shoot, Kill, Any car will do, Another Level, A la Mode) without glitching :
1) Using a USB thumb drive, backup your #TwistedMetal gamesave data. (You can always restore it at a later date, were assuming you have all the cars unlocked for ACWD).
2) Delete your game save and game install data from your PS3 harddrive.
3) Reinstall the game, patches, and online code from your account settings
4) Log on, and go to your stats. Write down your stats so you have your initial starting numbers to count up from. I highly suggest you use a spreadsheet, you can create one a google docs pretty easily.
5) Now you need to Host EVERY SINGLE GAME until the trophies pop. If you accidentally join another persons game, it will most likely glitch and you will have to start over. If you disconnect, DO NOT go back to your old room, just start a new room. Now track all your kills and wins.
Note: If you join someone else's game that they are hosting, you most likely will glitch and have to start over. If you are disconnected during the round or at the stats posting display at the end of a round, those wins will not count, but you won't glitch as long as you keep making sure you are hosting. Periodically check you stats, and make sure you count is correct, if it's lower then what you last wrote down, use that lower value.
This worked for me, after a few months of making sure I NEVER went into other room but the one I created on my own (#ISKREEM). Right on time, when I hit 100 kills and 50 kills, they popped. It's weird that some sort of bug between hosting and not hosting is causing it, but there you are.
Happy hunting! And thank you for playing Twisted Metal.
