I think that this thread got out of hand quick. TMPS3 wasn't and couldn't make everyone happy. TM2PC and TMBO has its fans and for good reason. But if you guys could I would give TMPS3 a second chance once the patches come out. Yeah I know likely most of you won't change your tune and that's fine but I think it would only be fair to allow TMPS3's final product to be what you judge it on.

Huge disconnect between some of the old guys and the newer ones like me. Guess you got to kind of just agree to disagree.

Well, you aren't wrong in suggesting to wait for patches.

But really, do I think they are going to patch the problems/issues I have that make the game less than stellar for me?

No, I do not.

Design choices such as weapon speed+accuracy, audio-design, cars handling, dodging mechanics, battlegrounds, car specials, or weapons (that to me) that are not multi-purpose tools like they are in prior games.

Its the way the game PLAYS out. It just doesn't seem like these are things that will 'get patched'. They are interested in balance patching, which isn't my concern AT ALL. See difference?

The thing is I wasn't really expecting it to play like the old TM's. Yeah it was going to have elements and some core stuff from the old TM's. I never thought any of the old TM's were perfect competitive game. I thought TM2 was dominated by the freeze way too much. I thought TMBO was only competitive in the right set of circumstances with the right players.

But for me the games were always fun and if you went deeper they have competitive layers but they couldn't put it together. I thought TMPS3 was going to blend what made the past fun with more balanced and modern mechanics.

I pretty much got what I wanted a modern TM game (Granted it was a rough launch) that was deep, balanced, and competitive. I guess my expectations weren't the same as yours. Maybe your expectations or experience of Twisted Metal was shaped by playing TM2 and TMB for so many years and that caused a different taste in how TM should play (And that's a maybe I am not claiming this to be the case).

I like TMPS3 and I can see why you don't like it honestly I can. But for an outsider to TMBO and TM2PC its hard to see how those are considered better.

Personally, I wasn't expecting TMPS3 to be like the old games either.

Which is why I take great offense to people (well, just HB and P7) saying we wanted TMBO2 and were expecting a carbon copy.

TM2 and TMB play fundamentally different on EVERY LEVEL. They are so opposite that I felt whatever combination of the two games they went with in the new game (or new elements) vets would have no trouble for most part so long as the game had the combat depth and skill we had come to know in TM2/TMB (and this is where majority of issues lie).

Yes. That is TECHNICALLY an opinion as to what depth and skill is. But i can lay it out in the most well versed ways and EXPLAIN WHY and HOW I believe this to be true (which is much better than giving no reasons behind this claim, right?)... and still am met with nothing but slander and agro from some insecure people who can't handle the facts.

And these opinions, however strange they may seem to some, are shared greatly in the vet circles. Take that for what it is. (altho you should applauded for actually hearing me out and being reasonable, so cheers)

so I'm finally able to play again (tv problems when I moved that no one cares about) and played some tonight ... ran into HB, mort, mosh, and afro in a couple games and got stomped. good times!

I hate only being able to use 3 cars and no absorption shield, freaking hit that so many times to no avail, but I did get rank 2 so I'm up to 4 now. good to see TMA in the games, softened the hurt of my asswhooping a little bit.

I played with AIC, JR the other night with Mort and Mosh. They love the game too. Now I am dishonest? Sounds like I am not the one making false statements here. I would not have mentioned those names unless I knew. So I am not the one here making dishonest remarks.

I got TMB with my LE copy so I decided to play yesterday for shits and nostalgic factor. Of course Black has its ups but so does every other TM game. They all give you a different experience. For me the new TM is just amazing gameplay wise and Black just doesn't compare. It actually feels like an updated TM2, control wise. Black was great with story/atmosphere and immersion but while playing it again it just felt old/clunky and just not as psychotic as the new TM. I can see where the "vets" are coming from and yes the new game has its problems, but for me TMPS3 > TMB

I think this post has gotten out of hand since it has turned into a discussion about which game had a bigger launch or which game seems to be preferred more by veteran TM players.

Everyone can decide for themselves what game they like most, trying to prove that others think the same does not make you more right or wrong in your choice.

I made this post not so much to vent my frustration about the new TM, I made it because I was sad that this new TM is not my kind of game and that I was looking for people with which to share my melancholy. And believe me, I so wished that this would be my kind of game, the ultimate TM, but in the end I had to conclude that this was not the case.

Was funny seeing you in our games last night. It doesn't take that long to unlock everything. If I'd known how awesome Warthog was I'd have unlocked him first and used him to rank up fast.

PX didn't play TMBO either. As far as I know Rabid does not 'dislike' the new TM. AIC is finding it hard to make time for the game to even form an opinion (nothing unusual, he went months not playing TM2pc on many occasions despite being one of the BIGGEST TM2 fans around).

Also when talking about TMBO don't forget how many players were on dialup back then and could only 1v1, thus inflating your game count (and the new TM has a 6 player minimum per game).

People played BOTH GAMES for eons because they had DAMN GOOD GAMEPLAY. Not for ANY OTHER REASON. Not because there wasn't anything else, thats horseshit. Im sorry.

Accept it. Most hardcore vets of both games don't like this game FOR WHAT IT IS. I dont understand why people cannot fathom that and make up a billion other excuses when they are directly told in polite ways what they don't like.

Obviously you havent read my essays about why and how the new game doesn't live up to expectations? So please, stop assuming other reasons and read.

100 to 1? Really? Way to greatly exaggerate TMBO and minimalise TM2pc at the same time. This isn't about majorities and minorities, it's no surprise to me that the majority of TMBO players do not like the new game, it's disappointing, but it doesn't mean something is wrong with us for liking it, infact loving it.

To everyone here a simple reminder:

TMA is a TM fansite, specifically the GOOD ones made by SingleTrac/Incog/ESP/SantaMonica. TM2/TMB/TMPS3 are 3 of the best TM's they ever made. If you are seriously talking about the new TM in the same light as we did TM3/4, you might want to check yourself out. We ran those people off the site in the past.

So if you are trading/selling/discarding your copy off in disgust, really what are you doing here? The game is really THAT bad? Really?! The anger/hate/discontent around here is unwarranted. Why are we fighting? Why are we splitting ourselves up into different sects again? That happened with TM2pc/BO, now it's happening again, and sooner than I expected.
