I was hyped when the news came that there would come a Twisted Metal for PS3. Personally my hype feelings were on the top just a month before the previous release. After that the delay the hype feeling cooled down a lot. I'm glad for that, because more than once hypes ruined the final product for me. I saw many blogs of Jaffe, which really made me confident, I trust him. I'm totally not sure if the multiplayer will succeed, I have my doubts here in Europe, where the franchise isn't that popular. But I think the singleplayer component will satisfy me big time.

I didn't want to get hyped up too early for this game.  But honestly, the more I learn about the game, the harder it is to contain my excitement.  Like Xizor said, that magazine article makes the game sound incredible.  Even if this game doesn't have the same driving and dodging mechanics as TMBO, it's still going to be a killer game.

TM2 didn't have amazing handling and dodging mechanics but the freezing, ramming, and variety of specials made it fun for years.  I wouldn't get too caught up on the driving depth.  You don't NEED that in order to have an addictive car combat game.

sorry rabs, driving in TM is half the battle and what really helped provide such a deep gameplay experience with tmbo.  Driving and firing go hand in hand to me.  TMHO had a dumbed down driving experience with no powersliding features and no dodging ability.  It does sound like some of the faster cars in the game need skill to drive them wreckless and not pinball all over the level - which is good, the game does need an equally deep weapons and driving system to give players that unique personality that xizor was rambling about...

if it makes you feel any better xiz, I'll do laps everytime i face you

I think the biggest issue for me right now is trying to manage my expectations. It's hard for something I've been waiting on for sooo long, and with such great anticipation, to live up to the fantasy hype machine I have created in my own mind.

I think this will be the best TM to date. As some of you have said, on paper this is the deepest TM ever. Now we just need all of these gameplay elements to come together and translate as a fun and competitively rich experience.

I don't know if I'll ever be able to recreate the memories I had with earlier Twisted Metal games. I simply much older now, and sometimes those kind of mental projections we manifest and remember are hard to replicate. However, this game will give us more features and add more aspects to car-combat than we've ever had before.

One of my really good friends who I just don't get to talk to that much anymore will be getting the game. We played TM1 & TM2 for countless hours together, and I can't wait to get the opportunity to do that again after all these years.

The amount of content, value, and variety Jaffe & ESP have packed into this game is really impressive. Did you guys see the recent Jaffe video where he showed some of the map variations? Like the Watkin's Harbor level, where one version was the center area that connected the two factories via the canal. Now while it's not the full map, the gameplay and pick-up locations are going to be totally different. 30+ map variations. Stuff like that is what really gets me so excited to play the game.

I could go on and on about all the features the game will offer, but at this point I see no reason to do such a thing. I know that all any of us want to do RIGHT NOW is play this motherfucker. Thank goodness the wait is almost over.

I have a friend also who I grew up playing co-op TM with and I cannot wait to play through the story mode co-op with him when the new game hits. My first few days to a week are going to be spent reliving the glory days of co-op TM with a friend.

I hope they do something to make coop more difficult. It was still pretty easy in TM2 and TMB.

I wonder how my CO-OP buddy will react when I pull out a brand spanking new copy of TM.  He's my older bro and doesn't have much time to play videa games, hes got a job, kids, and he'd rather ride his bike in his spare time.  He used to get mad when I'd play without him cause I'd get better than him.  I'm not gonna open it till I show him, but I really don't think he'll be that interested.   Great memories though of the glory days of TM2.   Really great times.  I was really excited to play with my nieces and nephews cause at least 2 of them like games but the M rating isn't good.

No one in my family cares about games.  I used to play some coop with my brother, but he always preferred Star Wars Battlefront.  Fucking George Lucas...

We are in the same boat. THE SAME DAMN BOAT! My family doesn't care about it and my bro used to play co-op and other stuff. But now his judgment is retarded. Not playing TMPS3 for what??? A damn helicopter put him off! Not because he thinks it'll ruin the gameplay. But just because it's THERE. And he never shuts up about them making a Star Wars Battlefront 3. Yes, awesome game. One of my favorites. But gawh...

Well of course both elements are very important.  I doubt it's going to be as basic as TMHO.   My point is that the game can still be very fun if it's more offense oriented (i.e. TM2PC).

Speaking of co-op with friends, Roadie just informed me (and forgive me if this is old news) but TM WILL NOT have online co-op? What the fuck is this shit? I thought this was confirmed by Jaffe as being in the game a long time ago so I just never thought anything of it. What gives? When was this HUGE piece of information UNconfirmed? Well, there goes half my fun plans for the first week. Because of this the game can only achieve a high score of 9/10 max.

Hey XIZOR

I'm pretty sure road head told you wrong.  Check out this web site.

The last sentence reads--- "Twisted Metal hits the Playstation 3 on February 14, 2012. It will feature split-screen and online campaign co-op for two players." --- http://www.co-optimus.com/article/7555/twisted-metal-will-include-online-pass-af...

This is from Roadhead,

Now I'm confused. My heart strings are being ripped apart here.

There was either a blog or that hour and a half long podcast where he confirmed online 2P co-op.

Nah from all my sources the game has offline coop only. They planned for online but never got implemented in time. Also, when Jaffe sometimes refers to "coop" he means Team games in online. Not campaign.

@davidscottjaffe should have online co op.If you can do split screen online and split screen campaign, why no online campaign co op?strange. - msg to jaffe

".@strickers66 Agree but as I said- if the main reason you want to play TM is campaign anyway, you'll have bigger issues that the fact that co-op is local only (i.e. not online). I'm not trying to knock our campaign (I mean, fuck, I think the bosses are the best we've ever done, think the world of TM via stories and such is so realized I wanna go make a feature film now,etc!)...just saying the game is really about the MP. Altho lots of team modes (online and split) so there is online co-op in a way, but I know what you mean. " - Dave Jaffe response to twitter person Jan7th 2012
