First up, Kali and TM2PC are like Water and Oil, they don't mix all that well. Typically playing TM2PC multiplayer games over years, we struggle sometimes to get 6 people into one lobby without the game freezing/locking up when someone joins (we called it musical chairs). The more people you try to fit into a lobby the more inclined it is to freeze. And freezing on just one person in the game room is not all that common but that means that either you or your friend are blocking one another, either through firewalls or router related issues. Best to turn security OFF.

Another point, if you SEE his game lobby made, and you left click it, you should see all the names of the TM2PC players pop up near the bottom right in a preview box to show you who is the in the game room. If you left click the game room and see NO names in this list. Then it confirms it is a blocking issue.

You are doing the virtual machine correctly, but i would seriously say its your firewalls, or router being issue here.

1) Yep, see no names = bad. Dont know about specific ports, but whatever Kali uses is best bet. And make sure uPnP is clicked if have it, that is auto port forward for gaming i believe.

2) Ive actually never played internal LAN. Just IPX or whatever thru Kali, even when I was in a LAN scenario.

If the car cant shoot while only in LAN mode... then maybe its an isolated incident? BUT if you cannot shoot/move/keyboard whatever on that PC... try going to....

start -> run -> regedit
hkey_local_machine -> software -> sony interactive -> twisted metal 2 -> 1.0.1 -> delete InputKeyboardStatus

Try 2213 UDP - someone just mentioned to me. Open that port.

For IPX - you have to be hosting a game room in Kali, and launch TM2PC THROUGH Kali. Then when Kali boots TM2PC up you should see the IPX under multiplayer. Also, anytime you run the game in Vista/7 you probably wont ever see IPX regardless, so you need to run the game in virtual machine with win XP (Which I think you are doing, so ur ok).

By the way: Multiplayer codes are entered either at level selection screen or Character Select Screen.

TYPE "Dasbak" before entering a code... "Icecream" unlocks Sweet Tooth, and "bigboy" unlocks Minion.  "Dasbak" then "Blowout" at level select unlocks all levels.

"Glorious" allows cheats in single player.
"dasbak" allows cheats in multi player.
