Twisted Metal 2 beta

I found this today while checking out the redump forums. http://forum.redump.org/topic/8882/psx-twisted-metal-2-usa-beta/

I found a torrent for it and decided to try it out. Theres not too much different from the final but there are some object and texture differences among other things(Codes are different, Sweet Tooth isn't used at all). Its also fairly buggy, but it is a beta. I ripped the bios images to show the differences there. http://imgur.com/a/bUsl4

Also for some reason all the audio tracks are seperate bin files so if you want to play it i would just mount the .cue in daemon tools and play through that "drive". or just burn it and play on real hardware.

If its against the rules to post the image ill edit it out. Figured you guys might find this interesting

Edit2: I forgot to record it but on Denmark(Holland) if you shoot napalm you can watch it fall through the ground.

Using save states I managed to load Sweet Tooth into gameplay and the character select screen

that's awesome, nice find. I definitely would like to test this out and play a few levels, are you playing this in your ps1/2 or are you playing this on a pc? would I need an emulator to play this? (I'm halfway computer literate)

judging from the vehicle ratings, spectre would have been an absolute beast in this game, and hammerhead might have been good.

I've had this for a few weeks.

Use Isobuster on it then ImageBurn.

Plays just purdy on a chipped PS1...

Watch the enemy AI as well, seems much nastier than even Hard mode of retail TM2.
Minion seems a bit weaker as his special doesn't always home properly.
Advance Attacks have completely different button combos.
HH and Axel actually drive OVER you in true monster crush style.

(strangely Axel seems to have the 'Wheels of Death' secret move built in as he can roll over you any time and do fairly high damage (even to Minion).

I've yet to put a lot of time into the game but I will soon. Check out some of the little level changes as well

That way we can see all the stages and how the AI fights. I don't know how to start this game. Reading the AI are stronger than the ones from the real game got me more interested.

I just need to add as well that the owner of this beta (Russian user Rocket) gave me permission to download it some time ago.

I'm assuming and hoping that he must have posted the link quite openly as I've received 2 different betas from him- this one which it seems he is happy to release to the public.

And one other in which he was very specific about keeping that one to myself.

LUIS: I was fighting against Spectre on level 1 (Med) and I swear the bastard was ducking and diving my shots (I was Minion).

I just remember thinking the AI was way more fiendish than the released version. Also it seems much harder to lure the AI into the swimming pool drop in Big Leap. (If your that way inclined of course).

Its a very fun version and could well tie some of us over for a short while at least until the big one hits?

Step one. download epsxe. http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4497381/ePSXe_1.7.0___PSX_BIOS_and_plugins

that version is preconfigured.

step two. mount the first bin file from the archive, the tool i recommend for this is http://static.slysoft.com/SetupVirtualCloneDrive.exe

after installation just right click the file you want to mount and the option to mount it will be on the right click menu.

step 3 open up epsxe, click config then select cdrom. click configure and select the drive letter that the image has mounted to, usually the last alphabetically.

then click file, run cdrom and you should be away.

controls can be configured from the config menu.
