Too bad, Aced14
The links you mentioned no longer work.
Another user from this forum thanked me for the link on February 6th, so it was probably taken down sometime within the last month or so. I spent a while searching for another download source for it a few nights ago, but came up empty-handed
.
In any case, the RAR version from
reply #7 wasn't the exact same archive Eat Sleep Play originally released. The RAR version was repackaged by someone else. It contained an
album art image from this unrelated soundtrack (was probably auto-detected/downloaded by a music manager app). For all I know, the metadata in its music tracks may have also differed from the originally-released archive.
Here's another quote from
prudoff's GameFAQs post with more info about the original archive ESP released:
Quote:Yes, that code works at:
http://twistedmetal.us.playstation.com/Soundtrack.aspxApparently the code is the same for everyone. So as long as Canada isn't blocked from accessing the site above, the code that's been posted will allow all you fine Canadian folks the ability to download the soundtrack Sony promised you on the packaging.
For those who are curious, the download is a 237 Mb "Twisted_Metal_Symphony.zip" file which contains 86 files: 42 MP3 audio files (44100 Hz, 256 kbps, stereo), 42 junk files named MP3 but really 8 bytes each (they have a MACOSX path), and 2 "DS_store" junk files. The total run time is 129:57 (2 hrs 9 min 7 sec), so you will need to divide it between two CDs if you plan on burning these songs to regular audio CDs.
Since these are regular MP3s, they are of course DRM-free (no copy protection) and capable of being used in any MP3 player (iPod, Zune, etc) as well as on your computer.
I recently came across another old
GameFAQs thread that contained download links (which have since died). Crazemaster (the person that posted it) mentioned he had received "permission" to do so, without any context as to whom provided it. To quote:
Quote:I got permission to allow the public to download the Twisted Metal Symphony for free!
I wonder if Crazemaster actually reached out to Eat Sleep Play and got their blessing to repost the symphony?
I'd personally be interested in seeing the the original 237MB "Twisted_Metal_Symphony.zip" archive get reposted somewhere as-is (without any kind of modifications). But it's kind of a grey zone since the symphony (if you can even call it that - some tracks are just rips of cutscene audio) wasn't officially-released for free and since ESP hasn't publicly granted permission for the symphony to be reposted.
