I have experienced that as well, and the fact of the matter is, Darksise must gain momentum. She has an apex of velocity around 85-95% of any given executable distance of her special. Rotating Darkside miultiple times contributes to velocity increase divided by the average percentage value of your accuracy to momentum aggregation.

Zerathustra, are you trying to say that using Darkside's special while you're doing a sharp turn increases the special's velocity?

Nice to see those old school Excel charts are still kicking around, how often to you guys play TMBO these days?

Yeah unfortunately we are on a bit of a TMBO hiatus largely in part due to Gears 3... but if you are interested we can get you set up?

If you want to get pumped for action you can watch our extensive library of recent matches, in the TM2PC/TMBO video thread which might be on page 2.

Good to see ya Smiley

Hey m8s! lol

Umm well I'd like to play TMBO but I have no idea where my PS2 is...and I think the TMBO disc is stuck inside of it.

What about TM2PC? Or does dual/quad core ruin that for everyone?

No, once you've connected with one opponent, you can't damage anyone else, even when you connect perfectly.

Darkside was a mysterious car. I THINK the makers intended a regular ram to do 38 points and t-slide or wall ramming to deliver 50, period. Other than that, you can "wind damage" people by using a special and sliding near them, for 15 points. Sometimes I've wondered if the "wind" only lands when you special through your opponent's actual position, but don't connect on your screen, because it doesn't always work. Also, there's a fairly frequent glitch with the wall ramming bonus where you can connect solid and it even says "Ramming Bonus," but it doesn't do ANYTHING at all. For this reason, I never did wall rams unless it was an emergency.

Finger of God was the one who first showed me the 65 point airborne hit. He said it's probably caused by getting the 15 point wind damage plus the t-slide bonus. Since he was Incog, he's probably right. I can't remember if he referred to it as a glitch or not.

As for the mysterious other point totals people sometimes get, it's hard to say what the hell's going on. I've noticed that Darkside's 90 point bitch slap usually (or maybe even always) occurred when I connected diagonally, just enough to get a t-slide, but still also hit pretty solid with the front of the truck as well. It could be possible that it's glitching and giving a regular ram AND a t-slide ram as well, but that should mean 88 points, and I've never gotten an 88 point ram before. Plus, I could never get this to work consistently during testing. The other theory I came up with was that part of TMB's original program still remains in the TMBO code, so it sometimes accidentally executes an original t-slide (40) plus a TMBO t-slide (50).

If you managed to get 80 points, then there are two possibilities: 1) You wind damaged both opponents (15 + 15) and then got a t-slide (+ 50), or 2) Darkside has blessed you and you're not going to hell when you die.

Another perk worth mentioning for Darkside (as well as Axel's secondary) is that the specials are completely lag-proof. If you connect an opponent on YOUR end, it's curtains for your opponent every time, no matter where they REALLY are in the level. For example, even if I cheat on you and pull my Ethernet cable out of my PS2, and your DS then hits my ghost with a t-slide, then the moment I plug back in (up to 30 seconds later before the game times out on me), I get owned. Kilrahi used DS as a hilarious counter attack for a couple of plug pulling bitches back in the day. When he knew they were gone from the game, he'd ram their ghosts two or three times, and then 20 seconds later, when they thought they were safely underground in Junkyard, they'd plug back in and explode. What a wonderful surprise it must have been. Seeing them quit out is one of my favorite TMBO memories. Unfortunately, the reverse is true as well--if I unplug my Ethernet and slam into your ghost with my DS or Axel, you get owned when I plug back in. Once upon a time, it looked to me like one of my favorite opponents had figured that one out. Peh.

The last best secret for TMBO is the fact that one power missile can possibly deal 20 points damage each to 7 other enemies before despawning (there is a video of 1 power missile hitting 2).  Or maybe the fact that YJ's special can possibly oneshot one of the big dogs if you use the game's horrible network phsyics right.  Or just maybe it's the fact that if you know exactly where someone is on his own connection you can gascan him and unload all your megaguns on his position when he get's stuck on a wall with no shield energy.  Of course you could always say it's firing slow-homing weapons on the curve.

One of the more-known secrets, though, would have to be that Manslaugher's special deals more damage to the broadside of a moving opponent.  THAT will leave Grimm with 5 points armor remaining from full.

Sliding looks like a loop-de-loop to everyone else but you.

If you aren't the host you can get infinite pickups from choppers.

You can silence reticles and RK's special.

You can leadshot freezes.

Grimm v Grimm is my favorite matchup.

It's hard to believe my glory days are almost 10 fucking years behind me.  And I'm TMBO discless.  Next month, I hope my 5-year-old 1080i TV allows me to compete.

Yeah the whole one weapon hits two targets thing aint so much secret as it is network tricks. Other day I fired one ST special and got 85 points of dmg, simply because on one persons end it went for them, and on another persons it went for them. Two people on freeze is also nice, or one spec missile that goes after two targets lol.

As Roadie already said, at lot of the above really aren't game secrets so much as network junk.  A lot of the above is also misleading or incorrect.

While it's CONCEIVABLE to have one weapon hit seven other players due to network garbage, it has NEVER EVER happened and in terms of power missiles that would be damn near impossible (since it's a straight shooting weapon with no aim and only so many cars can hold one spot of ground).

YJ's turbo ram is clearly not a lag gimmick.  The original TMB had a turbo ram, and it looks like in the online mode they beefed it up.  You can recreate it every time perfectly in test mode.  It's not a network prob, it's what his special does.

Manslaughter's does seem to be network issues, but it has nothing to do with the broadside of a car as far as Stitches and I could tell.  Simply go up to an opponent and right when you fire hold tight turn to do a little "twitch."  It significantly ups the damage as it seems to cause all the rocks in the bin to hit you, rather than have a few blow by.  If done right it will do 120 points of damage.  That won't leave Grimm with five points of health left, that will kill him dead.  Along with a number of other cars.

Yeah you can silence reticles . . . kind of.  It didn't seem like it worked all the time every time, and I personally never do it intentionally, just not my way.  If I remember right just as you fire cycle up to the weapon just before it.  Gas cans seem to work best.

Sliding does NOT look like a loop-de-loop to everyone else (I assume that means you are saying it looks like a full circle).  It looks like a SLOWER slide that is OFF trajectory.  I'm going off memory but if you visualize a car sliding in a sickle shape (an arc) you have to visualize them sliding faster and a bit further out (like a moon further out in orbit than it appears).

Finally, you point out you can lead shot freezes, but that really isn't the point.  You can lead shot just about ANY weapon in the game (reticles you really can't, but just about anything else you can).  One of my faves to lead shot with, besides the obvious power missile, is the fire missile or sweetooth's special.

I should get Stitches in here to clean up what I said and make it even more accurate.

Yea, with MS that is correct, the "twitch" sorta bunches up the rocks and makes most/all of them land.

You can also stand in front of a person with your bucket of rocks facing them and fire your special normally. I remember it doing around 100-120 damage as well. In our recent team games, I never really get the chance to pull that move off, so hopefully I'm remembering that correctly. All the vets can break the freezes pretty quickly, so not many chances for that kind of an attack.

Didn't people also cloak to try and silence the ret as well, and couldn't you also go off radar like people do for ST/RK special?

Yea, they aren't really secrets as much as me rambling as hard as I could.  Network junk is more appropriate.  Hopefully, TM will lack the horrible network physics but still maintain the same depth of gameplay.

And I do remember doing less rocks damage on vehicles sitting still.  Maybe I'm going bat-shit and misleading. Kil, you are my only hope for sanity.

Hate to sound like a noob here, but how do you do some of the special special attacks here, like the T-slide and some of the other attack techniques mentioned here? Also, can anyone give any tips for dodging?
