No im 99% sure that setup wont work. You're adding WiFi into the mix and it just fucks everything up. I've seen it function ONCE and it was horrific. It's not advised by anyone and even on the Xlink site. If the Laptop were wired into the router, no problem.

Yes but you can also do your network config. on a game like THUG, Socom, etc. I think Kilrgrn has a list of all the games that have it.

Ok its all setup. im in the game now with Xlink running on my pc. I get to the point where it connects fine, then when it says in TMBO "Read usage policy" it gives me this error:

An unrecoverable network error has occurred. If problems persist, please reboot your console.

any ideas?

ATTENTION Xlink KAI users and TMBO

If you are about to leave the game after gaming, please DO NOT turn off the console. Instead leave the game lobby normally and go back to main menu, then quit kai and then shut off your console.

Simply turning off the console will result in game lockup for everyone and having to reboot kai/tmbo.

THANKS!

I was in Wal-Mart today and I saw a new copy of TMB GH ($19) which contained the online component as well as a new PS2 for $99. I'm on the brink of buying it but I have two questions.

Is there any other source to get the Xlink / Kai software besides MEGAUPLOAD since they've been shutdown as a result of the investigation?

My other question is rather unrelated but it pertains to using an alternative to a composite cable with the PS2. I really don't have a solid or 'convenient' way of using one unless I buy something. So my question is: what are my options?

EDIT: I also have another question on the configuration of networking for the PS2. I don't think I have any of the listed games but I do have a copy of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater / Subsistence (online game). I was wondering if that had network configuration? Thanks!

I need a memory card as well don't I? Thanks again.

Ummm . . . yeah don't use megaupload.  Just use the download link on the site.  It's at:

http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/

I don't know if Metal Gear has the network software, but it PROBABLY does.  Most of the later games did.  If not though you could probably grab one of the games on that list used REAL cheap at your local gamestop.

Also, what do you mean by composite cable?  Do you mean the old standard AV cables that come with the PS2?  Again, if you hunt online or at local game shops you could buy an S video cord.  You could probably even find a step beyond that.

Finally, yes, you'll need a memory card.
