how in the hell did your friend get a tweet back from Jaffe but Tim tried like hell and couldnt get shit? and he even asked Tim to get ahold of him to boot
I got a chance to pop off some questions to Dave and Steve during a TMA chat before Small Brawls launch. That was fun. I asked a stupid ass question "will the antennae on the cars wiggle around realistically?" or something like that. His answer was "Yes they will.". Satisfying answer for such a dumb question haha.
I have clips of a recorded TMA game VS Incog. That was fun. We got our asses whipped badly. I still have the videos but they are very low quality. If i can get them back in reasonable order i'll post em on Youtube for anyone that is curious to see Incog kicking my ass and everyone else s asses.
I won God of War from Dave off his blog during his New Years contest. I said in the thread that Dave was in a different timezone to throw most of the people off and triple posted on newyears in his timezone to snatch it. I'd feel kind of bad about it if it weren't for the fact God of War kicked so much ass. Also how else do you win a contest like that? Personally i think i deserved to win because of my tactics haha.
They put me in TMHO ETE which was a great honor. I wouldn't call that talking to Dave, Steve, or anyone at ESP/Incog/Singletrac. But i'd like to think they recognize who i am haha.
I used to talk to Kirk Baum (a programmer for TM2PC, TMBO, War of the Monsters, Downhill Domination, Warhawk PS3) for a while on AIM. But i lost contact with him after a bit after WOTM's release. I think the last conversation i had with him was about WOTM's boss and how well it was made. I also remember telling him about Unreal Tournament on the PS2 being compatible with PC USB mice, which seemed to interest him greatly. I also told him i hoped the next Incog game is Warhawk. He never hinted at all that they were actually working on it haha. Such a cool dude. I wish i still had contact with him. I have no idea what he's up to. I should look him up.
I've also spoken to Gabe Newell (president of Valve) over the telephone to help my father set up his college gaming courses with free steam accounts. Their website and contacts for the program were not functioning. So i called their HQ line. It asked me for an extension and i got lucky by just dialing all 1's and managed to get a straight call into his office. He's a great guy and worked with my father to set up free steam accounts for the schools gaming program. Haven't spoken to him since. But i can say in full honesty that he gives a shit about gaming and he want's kids to have all the resources Valve can offer to help educate them on game design, art, and programming. Very cool guy.
Once i left a box of baby pig heads on John Carmack's porch back in 1994. Then again in 1996, and one last time in 1999. Now he's got motion sensors and a gate so i just email pictures of my dick to ID Software.
Sometimes getting in contact with successful people in the gaming industry is a total fluke. They get huge amounts of email and stuff sent to the company's they work for by fans. Even if someone like Dave sacrificed all of his personal life. He'd still never be able to keep up.
I know if Dave had the time he'd talk to all of his fans personally. Well i don't really know. I mean just cause someone is a fan of Dave's work doesn't mean he is going to like them. Like somewhere an anti semetic child molester is playing TM1 and loving it. Dave probably doesn't want to talk to that guy.
Or to put it on a more logical level. Dave probably doesn't have time to even know if he's talking to a child molester that loves TM. So it's going to be hard for him to tell if he's giving his attention to the best fans that he would personally get along with.
In other words it's nothing personal. The Dave is very busy and it's hard to keep track of a million fans.
I like calling him The Dave. There are too many Dave's and he's the best one.
