Whatever happened to TM Black Harbor City?

OK been playing the crap out of TM Black recently (Thanks to TMPS3 announcement) and I have to say that why wasn't there a sequel or another TM for PS2. They did port over TM Head On which had a ton of extras and they mentioned that they were in early development on a TM Black sequel.

Then they said that they canned development on the game because 6 developers died in a plane crash. But there hasn't been anyother evidence that such a plane crash and the whole they wrote a note thing just makes the whole notion of a crash seem even less likely.

All in all TM Black came out in 2001 and the PS2's life cycle lasted until 2006 (And beyond thanks to the PS3's slow start). There should have been a new TM game playing off the success of Black somewhere between 2003 and 2006.

All in all was there ever any official news as to why TM Harbor City was canned and what there plans for the game's gameplay?

I'm not sure but I don't think it would've sold that well. After all, look how bad War of the Monsters did. Okay, maybe it's just me, but I think it would've done bad.

I also think the only reason TM Black did so well because it was released within the first year of PS2's existence. Also it was a pretty high-profile game to begin with, people were still all crazy about TM with 3 and 4 holding them over. And Head-On did well because it was a launch title for PSP.

And TM for PS3 is a great idea, sales-wise, because PS3 exclusives seem to do really well, no matter what it is.

Well Black was good enough to sell over a million copies (It was a greatest hits title) and considering how much damage TM 3 and 4 did to the brand that's even more impressive. It was critically acclaimed and sold well so a sequel would have done better considering it got a much better lead in then its predecessor.

Also I was highly skeptical that TM Black Harbor city was canceled due to a plane crash I just didn't know the real reason behind the cancellation of the game. Jaffe and Scott leaving makes much more sense.

Still it would have been good to not have gone 10 years without a console TM game.

The note was made because Jaffe and Campbell was probably pissed off by someone within SCEA and so they left and formed Eat Sleep Play. It was cancelled because Jaffe I think wasn't up to doing another Twisted Metal. End of discussion!
