Some ideas to keep all the fans happy.
06/17/10 at 15:24:53

Hi there, I have been a lurker for a while now, anyways I had some ideas.  A lot of people have their personal favorite Twisted Metals.  One of the idea's I had was making Map Pack's and Character Packs DLC for when the new Twisted Metal arrives.  For example if someone really loves Twisted Metal 2 more than the other ones, there could be a Twisted Metal 2 map pack and character pack.  The same game essentially just in high definition.  Options such as classic controls, handling, physics etc.  Then allow these map packs to be played in multiplayer.  All redone in HD.  I think it would be a huge success!

Nice idea, but it's not the easiest thing to implement. Time, resources, licensing. Plus new maps will divide the community up making it difficult for them to play with one another. It's the same thing Activision does to their franchises. They put out overpriced DLC that you pretty much need to purchase in order to play the playlists.

You are right about that, but how about some sort of a deal like if you own the original twisted metal discs you can get a code and verify them somehow and get the DLC free that way.  OR They could do what they did with GOW series and remake all of them except 3 and 4 of course, in HD and you can get the maps for free for buying that collection, or put this in a collector's edition.  Speaking of which, I hope they are releasing a Collectors Edition.

I would love the TM2 map pack the most. Twisted 2's Specter was my favorite.

Proving you own the games would be extremely difficult.

A collectors edition would be pretty awesome, but who's going to redevelop the remakes? ESP has their hands full with TMX. Your ideas would be awesome if they were possible.

the way i can see this happening is only in Nuke n Deathmatch, as they be new vehicles to pick from. example   "Dune Buggy" (with 2 color palate swaps) n have Spit n jump n slame.  so they represent Pit Viper n Grasshopper.

same gose for the stages but im sure this has all the best TM maps in it aready if not then it be treated the same.

hell, Infinity Ward did it with MW2 and the throwback maps. I do realize that it wasnt hard to polish them up for the DLC since they were newer, but I dont think it'd be impossible to do it like described above. maybe pick a few 'fan faves' from whatever pack you're making (like Paris, London, Moscow and Antarctica for TM2), and give them an HD overhaul. this way you dont have to do all, just a few. I wouldnt mind paying for the pack either, considering I know there is plenty of work involved to do it, and I dont expect ESP to work for free

finally, im not the only TM2 purist anymore. best thing we can do is get other ppl to buy the game. im sure there will be DLC support if the game does well, which im sure it will regardless.

Well..back when we didn't have DLC stuff, we had codes/cheats to unlock maps. Remember Cyburbia? Ya kno, that kinda stuff.
Maybe if a DLC is suggested then it could be a TMB map or dunno.

I'd love, however, to get a remasterized TM2 (and TM1 ofc) map, even if its a few. I wouldn't mind paying the 15$ that MW2's pack cost.

I don't think it would happen. Jaffe said on his twitter account that he likes the concepts of the old maps but hates the design. So I'm expecting more of the same theme for the maps but different designs.

I think as cool as it would be to have the TM2 maps it just isn't feasible with how fast the game plays now unless you expand on them and either way, unless you have the physics engine of TM2 is having the maps really going to mean anything?

I could see the argument for Paris, but outside of that I think its the maps and the gameplay that make TM2 special.  Not really something you can split

Pretty much exactly what I was thinking Joe. TM2 maps wouldn't work in this game unless they are at least doubled in size and things are twice as spaced out. If anything, Blacks levels would be the only viable ones to bring over due to the fact that this game seems to be closer to that style than 2.

Either way, I would like to see some classic maps, but mostly from Black just because I spent so much time playing those in a MP setting. I'd just like it if they got the Blood Gultch make over from Halo 1 to 2 where the idea was making that map, bigger, better, and more complex.
