I remember watching a deathmatch vid in slaughterdale where the talon dropped an enemy player and he took falling damage. It even opened up a small window, like the rear window mode in the earlier games, that showed the target hitting the ground. I think he took 40 pts of damage or something?

Watching Jaffe's own 25 minute press conference it was confirmed. Freeze attack spamming will not occur due to the easiness of the advanced attacks now. There is a recharge function to prevent this.

I would think with the AA system currently in place, you can't really do more than 2 freezes per bar anyways ... not sure how you can spam something you can only do twice

That's what I was thinking. There never has been an issue w/aa spamming and I don't foresee there being any in the future unless they change the AA bar regen system

For the most part, Twisted Metal will probably stay fundamentally the same. The core mechanics haven't changed that much over the years, only the speed and scale have seen a significant difference. Maybe we're getting a little too worried about these details, which will be unchanged in the end.

I think you MIGHT be referring to a question I posed for PJ in another thread.. not sure. I meant AA spamming in the sense of multiple people shooting freeze missiles at ONE target, to keep them chain frozen (like TM2PC).

What happens if someone is already "frozen" (more like engine stalled) gets re-frozen by a car who didnt originally freeze him. Does it re-stall the car? Or does it cause that "cheap shot" effect where the person who tried to freeze a frozen target becomes immobile themselves?

I think that will be fun to use on Talon players. Stall those bitches out and make them fall from the sky while we pelt them with tons of weapons. I'm sorry, but when the game comes out I'm immediately raping any Talons I see in the sky.

I hope the "cheap shot" effect comes to the final version. I mean, I'm gonna love timing the most accurate to re-freeze in such a way that my freeze ball gets him 0.1 seconds after my enemy gets unfreezed.

I already wanna own newbies Smiley

Man, I feel like I'm way late posting this now, but nonetheless, I managed to read through 24 pages of tons of new info so here's what I have to say:

First off, those vids were pretty damn impressive. I can't wait to see what they'll eventually translate into once this game hits the market. This games makes TMB look like TM2.

Second, I'm really glad they're including the classic single-player and co-op modes. It kinda worried me that they originally didn't plan on doing it at all. When I first saw those vids with the factions,  helicopters, enemy leaders and turrets I had a sick feeling in my stomach thinking the game had jumped the shark or something, especially when I read a post from one of the early pages that there would be no traditional character set-up because then the characters wouldn't nearly be as dimensional that way. But thank goodness the 25-minute vid confirmed it would have most of the stuff that's always been in the TM franchise and I was much more comfortable with that.

I also love the idea of simplified AA. Pressing just one button to do the freeze? Why yes, thank you. :3 I don't mind the D-pad being used for that new purpose, we have analog controls to take care of the steering now.

I just hope they don't focus too much on the Nuke mode and slack off on the SP, but hey, this is Dave we're talking about and although he may have had SP in hindsight, I'm confident he won't screw it up.

The T rating doesn't necessarily mean it'll be toned down or anything; TM1 and TM2 did just fine with those kinda ratings. If anything, an M rating would only hurt the game because it would end up being more audience-restrictive.

And with all this talk about customizability, they'd better have customizable controls that allow to make it like Run n' Gun mode at least.

I'm kinda glad this game is going to have a T rating.  As Dave and other has mentioned, it will boost sales just because anyone can buy the game. So if 13 year old Timmy wants to go out and buy the game without his mom there he can.  I always felt bad turning away gamers who wanted to buy a particular game but weren't old enough.  Also as mentioned before, ESP can now advertise alot easier too. No more 12am - 5am only commercials on tv, and they can put up game displays inside of walmart and target - family orientated and big time game distributors.  I think it was a smart move on ESP's part

First thing I'm going to do is use Roadboat and throw someone off a building. I've always loved seeing things fly/fall to their death.

I prefer using the D-Pad to control the vehicles and using the same D-Pad for combo entry was no hindrance to my game play at all and for the most part is where it allowed skill and experienced players to shine.

As far as damage to vehicles from running into walls and shit is a bogus idea. Only the aerial units should be considered for this concept.

I agree about using the D-Pad.  I prefer it over using the analog stick when controlling a vehicle.  I'm getting a little worried that won't be an option.

The only thing I want as far as collision damage goes is for it to be like TM2.  If I recall correctly, I think you sustained minimal damage when turboing head-on into a wall?
