This generation is dead to me in terms of racing games.

Unless anyone plans on getting the PC port of GRID 2 anyways.

Yeah i know. I'll just keep playing GRID 1 on the PC with my PC friends most of whom don't speak any English.

I just love 1080P so fucking much. It's worth more to me then any living person. The thing that agitates me the most in racing games is judging distant turns due to low resolutions. You know when you can't even tell what direction the little guard rail arrows are facing because it's so pixelated.

Even 1080p is a little shitty for racing games honestly. You really need that super clear picture so you aren't so dependent on memorizing the track and using your radar. Racing games would probably benefit the most from 3D technology too since judging distances and velocity is something you can actually do accurately with a 3DTV

Nothing against GRID i think it's better then Gran Turismo and more realistic then Burnout. I'm just frustrated that Forza has the best resolution and framerate. It's too realistic for me to get into.

But a new Demolition Derby game would be exactly what i'm looking for. Demolition Derby Arenas on the PS2 blew so hard.

Yeah i used the term friend loosely like the rest of the world does.

The gaming population is even worse then the bar population. Everyone i know in real life prefers real guns and cars over video games so i never invite anyone over to play games either.

The only games i actually have friends in are Natural Selection 2, Dark Souls, Planetside 2, and Command & Conquer Zero Hour. Even then NS2 is the only one with an honestly good player base.

Racing games are probably the worst for finding game buddies because the players whine even harder then the ones in fighting games. Not to mention dealing with the jerks who disconnect the second they know they lost.

I tried Halo 4 but even with you guys the competition we fought was either entirely unorganized (wasted match) or a completely functional squad (far beyond our combined skill). Not to mention you guys have no sense of teamwork and essentially just run around occasionally getting in a vehicle. Without the vehicles i don't think we would have even needed microphones in Halo 4.

In order for me to have an actual squad of players or a racing crew i'd have to pretend to be friends with people i think are honestly stupid and intolerable. That negates the point of enjoying the game with other people.

That is what makes NS2 so great. If you are terrible then you don't get to play on the big boy servers. You are stuck on the retard servers. While the real players get to enjoy real games away from the casual filth.

Colin McRae was my first rally game and when the series turned into dirt, the game was fun, but not what I wanted. Then I found out About Richard Burns Rally which I loved so much I paid extra for a copy in Germany.

It's good to see a new RALLY game.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bigant/big-ant-dirt-track-racing

Big Ant and Former Rat Bag employees are trying to make the best dirt oval experience yet. I've already pledged as Sprint cars are some of my favorite to race.

What is Big Ant and Rat Bag?

Rat Bag was the big dog of dirt racing sims and Big Ant was their competitor. Now they are working together to bring us the best experience yet. Bringing along a ton of customization with it.

I've been surviving of off World of Outlaw Sprint Cars 2002 for, well, 14 years. It's time for a upgrade.

Description for those who don't want to click a link.

Ever since we dipped our toes in the mud with Road to Knoxville, Road to Eldora and World of Outlaws Sprintcars for PlayStation2, XBOX 360 and PlayStation 3, Big Ant Studios have received a ton of positive feedback and encouragement from all over the dirt racing community in the United States, Canada and Australia.

Now it's time to follow it up by creating the next generation dirt oval racing videogame. We know there is a huge base of dedicated fans who deserve an updated dirt racing platform. But no publisher in the world will back us with the resources that we need to do this genre justice with the levels of polish and features that it deserves. This has to be a community project and it's up to YOU. We bring the tech, you bring the knowledge and enthusiasm.

Big Ant Dirt Track Racing will be a toolbox of customization for all racing equipment, venues, vehicles and characters. Every backer can grab the wheel to control the direction of the game through our Dirt Community. Once on board, you will be able to play pre-release features of the game through regular Steam PC updates. Community polls and discussions will drive design decisions, vehicle handling choices and tool features so the game is just how you want it to be.

We are already invested in the project, check out our announcement at the track during the World Series Sprintcars round 4:

Not only are we directly working with the fans, we've partnered up with some of the biggest and best names on dirt. Key groups in the virtual dirt racing community are also on board to make sure that we get the features of the game correct:

Mark Bracken and others from Ratbag Games, creators of the famed Dirt Track Racing series on PC are acting as consultants, advising on the physics and handling which are so crucial to the sport.

Team VLR will oversee the Multiplayer and Online Career feature sets with their vast knowledge of online dirt racing competition.

DirtworksDesigns, creators of the most up-to-date and accurate PC dirt racing mods, are contributing expertise and assets.

Funding and Feature Unlocks

We've set the bar low at $266,000 where this game can become a reality. But that won't cut it for the most sought after features like late models and 30 player online racing. For those stretch goals, we need as many dirt racing fans to get involved, so we can see how far we can take this!

As as fan of niche racing games over the years I totally love the passion behind these smaller indie projects but I simply can't be bothered to get super invested in them.

I've never contributed to any kickstarter ever. Not out of any sort of moral principle but simply because I'm not committing to anything that has no solid future or framework to deliver on what it promises, even if the developer is someone I adore. I didn't even bother with the Wreckfest kickstarter even though I fucking love Bugbear who made the Flatout games which are some of my favorite racing games of all time. I only gave them money once they had a solid playable demo on Steam and even then the game has made very little progress over the last year and a half or so. I recently booted it up to see where it is and it seems like almost no progress has been made overall. Honestly, despite the constant "updates" the game feels no further along than it did when I first played it and if anything I felt like the initial build was perhaps the best and most raw and the game has only become more mundane and boring over time.

I also bought into the DiRT Rally early access deal since Codemasters is another one of my favorite racing devs. I haven't played it in a while since its full actual release and while it was pretty solid it felt very harsh and punishing, which is fine, but ultimately a true rally sim like that just feels like a lonely racing game with little to no reward seeing as, at least at the time I played it, there was no friends leaderboard or multi-player. Don't know if it has been added but I'd at least like the option to have stagger start or race against AI or human opponents where there is no contact and you just ghost through other cars like was featured in DiRT 2 and 3 because I don't get the tension and thrill present in most modern racing games when I'm out there by myself on the track.

I bought Project CARS but I haven't really gotten into it yet since it seems like more of a Forza style sim game and I'm not really into that type of racing game for the most part. Really liked Drive Club on PS4 but it didn't hold my interest for long either so I think either racing games are sort of fading from relevance as they struggle to innovate as I played I ton of them last gen, or I'm just burned out on them because again, I played a ton of them last gen.

I do really like the offroad, dirt style racing games but unless there is something compelling about a game in this genre or I know a group of people who want to jump in to a particular title, then I'm just not that interested in racing right now.

I'm with you on Kickstarters. Didn't invest in Wreckfest. But I bought it on a Steam Sale and it's woefully under developed. You'd think they'd put some time into just making a few maps and a little campaign for people but it's just a few demo derbies and races.

Carmageddon has a different problem though. They got all the races and everything in there. But it has shit performance. They've recently spruced it up a bit and I do enjoy the game. But the state it released in was deplorable and even right now unless you have a powerful computer. It's going to run like shit.

Saw MUD: FIM motorcross championship for cheap and picked it up.

It's a pretty fun and simple motorcross game that I'm having a lot of fun with. It's been a really long time since I played one I really enjoyed.

Really makes me want to pick up MXGP next.

Oh and after, oh god, 5 some odd years of my Xbox 360 breaking, I finally got a used one a few months back and Forzia horizon 2. Way late in the game, but it's pretty fun. When isn't it though?
