you are the fucking man..

I gotta ask.. how do you do the rusting/weathering? on my train layout, despite everything being older, I havent done anything besides whitewashing the old brick buildings.. all the cars and trains are in relatively 'good' shape

I wanna do some rusty train cars with graffiti on them as well as some beat up cars behind the chop shop. eventually, I wanna expand the layout onto another table and the first thing I wanna do is a junkyard (Zorko maybe??) with some shabbed out cars. and across the street, I wanna do a redneck trailer park.. with some rusty, tin trailers

again, amazing work. I cant wait to see a finished product

Gamer85 - If I could make a living from building models, I would quit my job tomorrow. Trust me on that one! LOL!

The Dizaster Child - Thanks for the compliments on this one as I've got a lot of work to do still.  I've got almost 12 hours of painting on here already. I started with a bottom rust color (the primer in the first pics), then a layer of Aqua Net hairspray (yes hair spray) to protect the rust primer.  Then layered 5 coats of taxi yellow I mixed up.  Used a very very stiff short bristle brush to start scrubbing off the yellow top coat to reveal the rust primer.  Once I got the main rust spots worn down, then instead of working DOWN through the paint, you start building UP, with different rust palette colors on top and throw in some pastel chalks drybrushed on a Dulcoat (flat finish clear coat).  You put the Dulcoat over the pastel chalk dusts so they don't rub off each time you touch the body.  I'm happy with it so far.  You can also use hairspray and salt to get a nice rusty/chipping paint effect.

Trust me, it takes a lot of time and patience to "Rust" plastic. haha

that is epic..

I figured the rust base came into play, but the base looked real reddish compared to whats underneath the yellow. thats why I asked..

the brush bristles are rather stiff, right?

I took an old brush I had, and cut the bristles about 1/8th (.125 inch) away from the base of the handle, and use that and whatever you can take paint off with (water for acrylics / thinner for enamels).  Dip the VERY short bristle brush into the "remover" and then scrub away, then wipe the residue off with a tissue or something, whatever you please.

I'll post pics of my brush tomorrow for you.

Pretty awesome indeed. The icing on the cake would be to have a scale model of the actual drivers to go along with their awesome vehicles. Maybe even have it sitting in the car. I'm sure that would be even harder than trying to model the car itself though.

you could seat the drivers in their cars before putting the body on.. once the interior is 100% finished

If I was ever to make a Dollface figure, I'd have to have her outside the truck as the body is already cemented to the chassis and will not be separated.  Maybe have her all huddled on the running board with her arms around her knees like in some of the promo photos.
