Online scoring methods
01/08/10 at 18:35:35

I'm starting this poll in order to see what scoring methods are the most popular and which are the least favorite.  Hopefully I set this up right so you can vote for more than 1 option at a time.  I hope all of the above mentioned scoring methods make a return - more variety the longer the game life will be. And yes I hope to see all of these return as team games too and are balanced to the best that they can be.

Feel free to give your thoughts

Net Dam, LMS, Manhunt, CTF

I remember well Kills/Net Kills & Carnage. It's hard to not complain about steals.

Collector was ok. It was never anything than something else to do when your board.

LOL. Maybe we can set a Ynot room up, and just sling POWERS at each other.

now that i think of it, wouldnt this poll be a tad pointless. as im sure only TMBO players truly recall how well each scoring method actually worked in practice.

good point...but TMHO had these options as well - so those from the HO generation would know how it works.  I mainly put this poll up bc I remember reading somewhere that Dave though LMS wasn't important or a thing of the past...and so far LMS is winning this poll.  I'm sure we can introduce the rest of the world to the PTK matches and the tag team ones

LMS team games were my highest point for TMBO. It would be a shame if it werent there.

Nothing came quite close to the 4on4 LMS team games. I remember some games being super effin close and down to the wire. Especially spectacular when one team would have a major comeback, or someone was teamed up on and killed in micro-seconds.

One thing I just wanted to point out for the TMBO crowd is that kill stealing shouldn't really be an issue in team kills / net kills games. As long as your team gets the kill what's the difference?

Your right Nightshade. Well.....anyone who knows LMS from TMBO days wouldn't complain about that anyway. Any vet should know that.

The only time I've ever experianced kill complaining was in regular rooms, kills/net kills. I'd say 95% of the time it was a player not fammiliar with TMA.

I really enjoyed Team LMS.  They were always my favorite games.  They have become the standard (or at least were when I played) in TM2pc games with 2v2 or 3v3 games for hours.

Net Damage and Net Kills are also a lot of fun, but I'm with NightShade in as long as my team gets the kill.  Hopefully they will give a bonus to whomever did the most damage % instead of a bonus for the kill.  The death bonus should go to whomever hurt the victim most.  If the % is the same (say, each attacker did 50%), then the bonus (cash or XP) would be a split pot between the two.  I'm sure Jaffe is well on his way to making this a balanced game, and with post-release patches, I think we will should have a game we can play for at least the next 5-10 years.

Kinda off-topic, but how do you play TM2 online on the computer? if it's still even possible..

I have no comment on this topic though, since I've never actually played TMBO online so I don't know, but I do wish I could've experienced it at least once.
