Sorry guys, but I voted for the offline, just 'cuz I don't like the perks idea. It doesn't show whether or not you're better at the game. All it shows is you don't have a life and spend all day playing video games. On other ones with rank and stuff, I've beeen Level 3 and killed Level 50's multiple times.
On another note, why not have both offline and online MP? That way, everyone wins.
I'm pretty sure that ranking shows who has skill and who doesnt...I could quit my job, become a recluse and just stay inside and play TM all day long - but if I play, suck an d constantly lose my rank will never truly rise to anything great. In fact, if I had mad skills at TM and played it only when the day came to an end and did nothing but win - my rank and level would reflect on it. I played halo 3 for moooonths at my friend's place and I am terrible at fps and guess what, I was stuck playing noobs and people on my level for those several months, all the while the elites probably had bigger and more fun games with other elites. So yes matchmaking does show skill of people who are good at the game.
Xizor, I know we don't know hardly anything about this game, but Jaffe seems to be asking the fans for their input on gaming types and offline vs online stuff... If Archminion is right about the 6 month hiatus and announcement, then in theory the game should be announced in Feb. If Jaffe is going to continue these polls or make posts on his blog about what matters the most to you, shouldn't we do our part and hold more dicussions on what we want/hope for/like/dislike/love and hate?
Who cares if we disagree with each other - we always have and always will on every topic that we post, its human nature. But it does give the rest of us and developers a wide prospective on whats good and whats bad. I'd much rather have them know something about point of views rather than stab blindly in the dark.
Dave's latest poll asks: Does having the commenting section turned off on this blog make you less interested in visiting?
I voted yes - not the case at all, but I do miss the ability to comment on his blogs
