Yes, after watching a few hours of the tapes of my old online bouts of TMBO, I do love how every weapon, special, and even the cloak, has its own unique sound that as a player you can really key in on to help you during the match. Part of the fun of TM to me is knowing when and how to use your AA and that ties into the sound. You hear someone charging up a reticle attack so you either shield to block it or take cover behind and obstacle. You hear Spectre's cheap ass missile coming in on you so you either out run it with turbo, or you shield it as it gets close. You hear the satellites epic choir-y aaaaaAAAAAHHH coming in so you shield or dodge at the last second. The sound of zoom, homing, and fire missiles are all unique. I hope this is taken to the next level in the new TM. I had forgotten a lot of things about TM before watching my old tapes but the sound was definitely something that stood out to me even after all these years. As a gamer who has come to appreciate sound in games a lot more over the years, I had forgotten how great it was in the TM series.

I agree.. with the advent of newer surround systems and the ramped up sound effects in new games in general, it helps with the atmosphere. I played CoD4 at a buddy's house last weekend, and he has a 900-watt Bose surround system... no wonder no one can sneak up on that son of a bitch, you can hear an ant fart with that shit. I swear, I'd hear a bullet ping off the wall next to me, and I'm actually looking around the living room.... fucking scary real

I've honestly been more fooled By STEREO than I ever have been by surround sound.
For real, I'm not lyin.
there's been times when I've watched a VHS or a or game with just Stereo Speakers (Left and Right) and have looked around my shoulder.
More 3d effect than a surround set up.

...I know you will all Flame me for this but it's true with my experience.

A few years back there were these Microphones that a person Wore in their Ears, like headphones, but they were microphones.
3D sound.
Put on a pair of Headphones and listen to an audio sample recorded with those mics and you would SWEAR that the snapping fingers were circling AROUND your head.
