Question: Has anyone ever met someone like that before and have you noticed that the people with this mentality all seem to hangout together? I've met lots of these people that think they're hot shit. It's a phenomenon that started a few years ago.

I don't know that it's necessarily new, but there's a guy at my job that's like this. I'm a web / graphic designer there and he's in shipping, and he told me that once he was the head of a multimillion dollar advertising campaign... but he left to get into shipping at a small company I suppose? Also he says he's been in college for like 30 years and has 5 or 6 doctorates. Right. Every time someone answers someone else's question out loud he agrees, like he was just about to say it.

He also happens to look a little like a caveman.

On the topic of the UFC game, I'll have to try the demo out over the weekend, along with the Red Faction and InFamous demos.

You probably wont like UFC Nightshade. It just doesnt seem like your type of game and most people will mostly likely base their opinions of this game on playing the demo for 20 minutes or so....which wont do it justice at all. I am of the mind that you do at least have to be knowledgable and be a fan of MMA to completely enjoy this game or at least want to take the time to delve into the depths of this amazing fighter.

I am however still loving this game. Been drinking and playing all damn day long, dont plan on stopping any time soon, and I love it. Except drinking wine out of a cup makes me feel like an alcoholic but thats beside the point.

The achievements in this game are fucking hard as hell. I am not playing the game to get any chievies but I would have thought Id have a lot more than I do at this point but no, hardly any at all. You really really have to work for them and spend hours and hours with the game in general to get much of anything both skill wise or achievement wise.

Ive been trying to get the "call me "No Touch" achievement today but that is harder than I thought. I figured if I just put the game on beginner and played throught a weight class I would get it no problem if I just went to dashboard if I lost but I swear there are just fighters that you cannot beat what-so-ever if your stats are not up to par according to how said player fights no matter how many times you fight them. Not to mention even with the difficulty on easy it doesnt matter when you get up there in the ranks with your created fighter you can still get your ass beat down by the all star fighters in your class reguardless of what you think you can do.

Honestly at this point I wish I would have just bought the game as Im having so much fun with it that I dont know if Ill be able to part with it in a month but we will see. Anyways Im buzzed right now so Ill just go back to playing.

By the way, games like Street Fighter, Dead or Alive, or Mortal Kombat arent fighting games in any true sense. UFC and Fight Night are true fighting games. Those "other" games are just glorified 2D arcade fighters with nothing new to add to the genre. Fuck all those games, come play me in UFC or Fight Night if you want to experience a real fighting game. Otherwise just shut the fuck up about how you can throw more fireballs than some other dumbshit online who cant memorize buttons patterns better than you can. Fuck you Street Fighter IV fans! If you think you are good at fighting 1v1 play UFC or Fight Night or go jerk off to animes as you havent progressed past the idea that Japanese bullshit movies and games are somehow awesome when in fact american made games and movies surpassed those shitty countries years ago.

Wrong. I actually really enjoyed the demo, and I think I'll at least give it a rent.

I still dont understand the submissions in this game. I try to submit the AI all the time and never get it but as soon as they attempt to submit me they almost always get me to tap out and I dont understand this at all. Is there some special way to get out of the submissions that I just dont know about because I know all the standard ways of escaping? I try building my submission offense and defense up but it seems to make no difference what-so-ever.

Fuck yes! I was pulling for Lyoto. You did just kinda ruin the fight for me though. You bastardo! I wanted to watch UFC 98 so bad last night and I was going to wait and see who won when I actually watched it but oh well. Hopefully it will still be an entertaining fight to watch. In your fucking face Rashad Evans you cocky black bitch!

The game is amazing.  I stopped playing online though because I've ran into the quit glitch, which works for both PS3 and 360.  My record is 15-6, but it should be 21-6, and I'm not playing anymore until they fix people being able to quit without suffering a loss.  I beat a level 60 guy twice in a row with Brock Lesnar last night.  The only reason I played him the second time was he kept PMing me saying his little brother was playing and he was sorry, etc.  BULLSHIT.  He lost with Frank Mir (best in the game).

I must say I am pretty unstoppable as Brock Lesnar though.  It almost seems cheap.  The only person that has beaten me as Brock has been Frank Mir (thrice).  I have about 16 online wins with Brock though, and at least 50+ more against RL friends.  They won't even play me as Brock anymore.  He's just a fucking beast.  He is the definition of a beast.

Submissions aren't my strongest point, but I have made two people tap out with Frank Mir.  Frank is tall and lanky and can actually punch like Brock Lesnar, but also can lock on a submission from ANY position in the game except both standing.  Which is something no one else in the game can do.  Well, some of them can, but they aren't NEARLY as effective as Mir.

Favorites -
Heavy: Brock Lesnar, Frank Mir, Tim Sylvia
Light Heavy: Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Chuck Liddell, Mauricio Shogun Rua

I haven't played with everyone though, but these are the main guys I pick because I know most of their moves by heart.  You basically just have to remember templates of moves, which are different whether you are striking or grappling.

Example, you can have a Boxer, Kickboxer, or Muay Thai striker with a Wrestling or BJJ grappling style.  Wrestlers ground and pound and BJJ are mainly submissionists.  There are exceptions to the rules but the game is superbly done.  Easily one of the best fighters ever.  Including Fight Night IMO.

I'll probably end up buying the game.  I have to take it back tomorrow, but I'll probably get it again.  I only have 25% or so of the trophies, and you really have to earn them.  I am close to having the No Touch Gold trophy though, my create a boxer is 21-0.  I had a very rough time from about 8-0 to 15-0.  After my 15th match, my stats were so good that most people couldn't make it out of round 1, except Rampage Jackson and Liddell, as they have good chin.  Make sure your boxer is 100% stamina when you fight your matches, and spend a lot of "spar" points on DEFENSE, not offense.  Because you can win with 20 offense power, but you will get your ass kicked if you have 20 defense power.  My offense is like 30 for everything except striking power (50). My defense is nearly 50 for everything.  60 for Grapple Defense so no one can mount me.

Im still loving this game tons. I havent even played with any of the stock UFC fighters that are in the game already, Ive pretty much just been doing different careers. Havent even touched the online cause I figured it would more than likely just be people picking someone who is unstoppable like Brock much like a racing game where everyone just picks the fastest car but I dont know.

I have noticed that the game is based purely on stats so you cant just pick any fighter and expect to beat any other fighter any way you want to. You have to play use your fighters advantages to the other fighters disadvantages. Only problem is that unless you actually know these fighters pretty well from watching them on tv you will have to just try them out to figure out what works and what doesnt.

Im also going for that No Touch achievement but I kinda fucked myself last night because I though you could just retire your fighter after winning the belt and get it so I ended up retiring one of my better fighters and didnt realize until afterwards that you have to play even longer. How long is a career then?

Best way to get No Touch is alway fight the lowest ranked fighter and never take any of the last minute challenges that Dana White tries to give you until you have the belt and your stats are high enough to take on anyone. That combined with what SCoLD is saying about putting points into your defensive stats instead of both offense and defensive is how I learned to be able to get through the career fairly easily without taking any loses. And then you can always just reset the console or go back to dashboard if you lose as well.

There are round about ways to boost wins for the achievements so if anyone gets it soon Id like to try for those.

Someone hurry up and get this shit for the 360 already god dammit! Im ready for human competition aside from random assholes online. I want to test my skills against someone other than AI and play with people I actually know are cool.

Do people play with created fighters online or just pick established fighers? I guess thats directed at SCoLD since hes the only one whos played the MP.

Right now my ideal type of fighter is one whos good in kickboxing for striking and Judo for grappling. I like to keep my distance and throw lots of head, body, and leg kicks with a few punches mixed in for good measure and then try for the takedown, then ground and pound. I also still need to work on my submission so my ground game will be complete. I dont know if this is a solid combination against real opponents but I crush the AI with it although I still need to just play some Exhibition on Expert to see how far I can really take my current style of playing.

My favorite combination is Boxer/Wrestler so far.  It's very straightforward punch and grapple style, and it's the easiest IMO to control the entire fight.  As Boxers hit the hardest (normally) and Wrestlers are the best grapplers also (normally, again).

I have dabbled with other combinations, but I just don't know all of the right analog inputs for all of their signature moves though.  Brock Lesnar and Chuck Liddell are more my style though, mainly kicks and punching and ground and pound.  I'm fairly good at submissions, but I only use them as a last resort because they are pretty easy to get out of.

I took back the PS3 version today, but the 360 version was already gone.  So I'll have to wait another 6 days to get the 360 version at least, but I'm thinking of buying it, and I'll probably buy the 360 version since I'll have a couple TMA people that play it.  It's definitely fighter of the year, without question.  I think it will beat out Fight Night this year at the awards, even with the sometimes HORRIBLE hit detection in the game.

I got Skate 2 btw, and it's a pretty damn good game for a skate game, actually.  I was super surprised.  Like the original but without anything missing, which is exactly how I felt when I played the first one (you can walk and move things in the environment to set up stunts, or bail in midair and control your body to do different types of body damage).  Definitely worth the 60 if you like skating, unfortunately for me, skating games get old fast.  So it's a perfect rental.
