Martin Luther Kings REAL Speech
04/09/09 at 22:06:11

Hey guys... check out what I uncovered today. Its the rough draft of Martin Luther Kings famous "I have a Dream" speech. This version is quite different than the one that we all know... personally I wish he would have stuck with this version. Enjoy:

I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in NFL history as the greatest demonstration for THE VIKINGS in the history of OUR GREAT FRANCHISE

Five score years ago, a great American, BRAD CHILDRESS, whose symbolic shadow we stand today, DRAFTED ADRIAN PETERSON. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of MINNESOTA VIKINGS FANS, who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice, EVER SINCE RANDY MOSS LEFT THE TEAM. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.

But TWO SEASONS later, the MINNESOTA VIKINGS ARE still not free. TWO SEASONS later, the life of the MINNESOTA VIKINGS is still sadly crippled by the manacles of TAVARIS JACKSON and the chains of HIS ABILITY TO FUMBLE THE BALL. TWO SEASONS later, the VIKINGS  live on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. TWO SEASONS later, the MINNESOTA VIKINGS ARE still languished in the corners of NFL society and finds himself an exile in his own land. And so we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

In a sense we have come to THE 2009 SEASON to NOT HAVE ANOTHER MEDIOCRE SEASON. When the DENVER BRONCOS of our republic TRADED JAY CUTLER TO THE CHICAGO BEARS they were signing a promissory note to which every MINNESOTA VIKING was REALLY PISSED OFF ABOUT. This note was a promise that all men, yes, BRIAN URLACHER as well as DEVIN HESTER, would be guaranteed the unalienable right TO A SPOT IN THE PLAYOFFS THIS SEASON. It is obvious today that VIKINGS FUCKED UP AND SHOULD HAVE SIGNED JAY CUTLER. I MEAN SERIOUSLY, EVERYONE AND THERE MOTHER KNOWS THAT ALL WE NEED IS A GOOD QUARTERBACK AND WE'RE A PLAYOFF TEAM. YET BRAD CHILDRESS PRATICALLY REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING.

But we refuse to BE A GOOD TEAM. We refuse to GET STABLE AT THE QUARTERBACK POSITION. And so we have SIGNED SAGE ROSENFELS. SERIOUSLY. WHO THE FUCK THOUGHT UP THAT IDEA?

We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind THE MINNESOTA VIKINGS of the fierce urgency of Now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of FREE AGENCY, WE ALREADY LET T.J. HOUSHMANDZADEH SLIDE AND BLEW ABOUT EVERY OTHER OPPORTUNITY. WHY WOULD WE NOT GO AFTER TORY HOLT OR MARVIN HARRISON?  Now is the time to make real the promises of WINNING A SUPERBOWL. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of LOSING TO THE EAGLES IN THE PLAYOFFS to the sunlit path of THE LOMBARDI TROPHY. Now is the time to lift our GREAT NFL TEAM  from the quicksands of MEDIOCRITY to the solid rock of STABILITY. Now is the time to make A SUPERBOWL PUSH.

It would be fatal for the MINNESOTA VIKINGS to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY will SHORTLY pass until there is an invigorating AT THE QUARTERBACK POSITION. THE 2009 NFL SEASON SHOULD NOT BE an end but a beginning. Those who hope that the MINNESOTA VIKINGS need to blow off steam and will now be content WITH GOING 8 - 8 SHOULD BE IN FOR A SURPRISE. There will be neither rest nor tranquility in VIKINGS LOCKER ROOM until the PLAYOFFS HAVE BEEN CLINCHED. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our GREAT NFL TEAM until the bright day of THE SUPERBOWL emerges.

But there is something that I must say to THE VIKINGS FANS who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice. In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to TRADE CHESTER TAYLOR. WE KNOW ADRIAN PETERSON IS THE BEST RUNNING BACK IN THE GAME, BUT TAYLOR COMPLEMENTS HIM REALLY WELL. IT WOULD NOT BE A WISE MOVE TO GET RID OF HIM JUST YET.

The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the VIKINGS community must not lead us to a distrust of all FREE AGENTS, for many of THE FREE AGENTS, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they SHOULD come to realize that their CHANCES FOR WINNING A SUPER BOWL is inextricably bound to WITH OUR TEAM. We cannot walk alone. AND WE SHOULD PROBABLY SIGN TORY HOLT.

And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back. There are those (THE CHICAGO BEARS, GREEN BAY PACKERS AND DETROIT LIONS) who are THREATENING TO OVERTAKE THE NFC NORTH, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as the MINNESOTA VIKINGS ARE the victim of the unspeakable horrors LIKE LOOSING TO THE EAGLES, WHICH DOES IN FACT BARE REPEATING. We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as THE MINNESOTA VIKINGS cannot WIN A SUPER BOWL. No, no, we are not satisfied and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.

I have a dream that one day THE MINNESOTA VIKINGS will rise up and WIN THE SUPERBOWL!:

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of THE METRODOME the sons of former VIKINGS PLAYERS and the sons of former VIKINGS COACHES will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of THE DETROIT LIONS, a TEAM sweltering with the heat of GOING 0-16 LAST YEAR, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed INTO A PLAYOFF CONTENDING TEAM, THOUGH THIS IS BESIDE THE POINT OF THE REST OF THIS SPEECH.

I have a dream that one day, down in GREEN BAY, with its vicious racists PACKERS FANS, with its HEAD COACH having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right down in GREEN BAY, little PACKERS FANS will be able to join hands with little LIONS FANS. AND SING THE PRAISE OF ADRIAN PETERSON. I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day WE WILL HAVE A GOOD QUARTERBACK, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of the BRAD CHILDRESS shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.

And so let THE VIKINGS WIN -- from the prodigious hilltops of THE DENVER BRONCOS

Let THE VIKINGS WIN -- from the mighty mountains of THE New York, JETS

Let THE VIKINGS WIN -- from the heightening Alleghenies of THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

Let THE VIKINGS WIN -- from the snow-capped TUNDRA OF LAMBO FIELD IN GREEN BAY

Let THE VIKINGS WIN -- from the curvaceous slopes of THE ARIZONA CARDINALS

And when this happens, when THE VIKINGS WIN, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of THE WORLDS MINNESOTA VIKINGS FANS, will be able to join hands and sing in the words:

"WE WON A SUPERBOWL AT LAST. WE WON A SUPERBOWL AT LAST"

Thank God Almighty, we WON A SUPERBOWL AT LAST!"

You forgot to mention that Brad Childress was the Offensive Coordinator for the Eagles for-almost-fucking-ever.  And Jim Harbaugh (Raven's HC) was our Special Teams coach.

We know how to fucking breed 'em.

If the Vikings win a Super Bowl before the Eagles I riot.

DRAFT DAY IS ALMOST HERE.

Scold ... if you guys want Brad Childress back you can have him. Seriously. As far as us Vikings fans go, if he doesn't take us to a Superbowl this year ... his ass should be fired. We're clearly a much better team than how he coaches us. Adrian Peterson is good, we all know that, but we can't expect him to carry our entire offense like this. We've got some decent receivers, we should have spent this off season going after a veteran QB ... and why have we not signed Tory Holt yet? Even if he only has two years left in his tank ... that's ok, we'll use him as a distraction. When teams double cover him it frees up our other receivers and frees up AP in the backfield. That's exactly what we need!

Ooo and I ran across a quote I think you'll find interesting  Wink

"The Eagles may be the dumbest franchise ever. They never spend money on anything worthy of anything. They let all the good players leave. That's why they never win." -- Warren Sapp

WOW, it sounds people in Minnesota are are becoming like Eagles fans, never happy.  And it's true.  But how can you throw out a guy that had the best Viking draft since Dante Culpepper and Randy Moss?  Seriously, your Vikings team under Mike Tice was distracted, never had their head in the game, and were too busy having orgies on the "Loveboat" (true story).  I don't hold it against them though, I would have orgies with celebrities if I was famous too, but I'm going to defend Childress just like I defend McNabb and Reid.

How many other teams have gone to the NFC championship game 6 out of 7 years, and one trip to the Superbowl?  NONE.  The closest was the Bills who made it 4 out of 5.  And people want to get rid of Reid and McNabb, when they should be adding a wide receiver.  Torry Holt and Marvin Harrison (Philly alum AND graduated Syracuse with McNabb, sounds like a no brainer to me) have been free agents for a month now...I don't get it either.

If you guys get rid of Childress, you guys are going back to the basement, and if we get rid of Andy Reid, we'll be right next to you.

That's what I don't get either. I mean damn....you have any idea how many teams would BEG to do that? Even of half that? It's an unfortunate thing because the only thing that does matter is the championship so, if your always falling short, it's never enough. It's a really fucked up catch 22 IMO.

I agree with both of you if Eagles and Vikes fire either coach. Esspecially the Eagles even more so. If they don't win, there be riots and shit.  Grin

I see the Vikings offence being almost like the Ravens. More run than pass, so they stack the line for AP daring them to beat them in the pass.

BTW....thanks for Brian Billick!  Grin Smiley He might be gone but, he's still a great coach IMO.

Strength of schedule based on 2008 performances.  Cardinals, Ravens, Steelers, Bears, Packers, and Vikings have the easiest schedules...and Bills, Buccs, Falcons, Patriots, Panthers, and Dolphins (of all teams) have the hardest.

If Eagles don't trade for Chad Johnson I'm angry.

That's a little deceptive too in a way. You gotta consider who is in your division. I know if the Eagles had a crappy team in their division, the strenth of schedule would be a little easier. IMO, I don't see how my division could be so easy. I mean.....for fucks sake, we only have the 2 AFC teams that were in the championship game here. One won the Superbowl.

You also look at the Cardnals. Seriously....Rams, 9ers, and even the Seahawks sucked last year. So that's "6 games" by "weak" opponents. The Colts have Titans, Jags, and even the Texans did ok last year.

I don't hold much faith on strenth of shedule anyway. Any given Sunday baby.  Wink

Wildcat formation with Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin .... HELLYEA! And we took a big old OL in round two, Phil Loadholt. Thus far I'm liking the direction we're going. A lot of people over on the Vikings forms are up in arms about us drafting Harvin, but that will all stop when hes catching the long bomb from whoever our starting QB is.

I like what your Eagles are doing. Getting some weapons for McNabb in Jeremy Maclin seems like it should be a good fit. Drafting Brian Westbrook's future replacement was an interesting choice. I'd have thought maybe they'd go for another offensive weapon that they could use immediately. Maybe we'll see LeSean McCoy spitting time with Westbrook this season?

How about them Jets?  Cool
