Righty, I've got an update on the server. Apparently the host decided to be a bunch of dicks (again) and delete the data right away (or in the next day or two, not sure if the data is still there, but if it is it won't be for long).

However, the crisis wasn't as bad as I thought it was - most of the data was actually recovered by Mort by chance a few days prior, so as I understand it we will just be missing a few days worth of posts and a years' worth of uploads.

Of course, donations are still appreciated and will be needed to pay for the new server once it's up and running.

I agree with Synthr.

If I remember right, the server for TMA is/was a little expensive. Considering what TMA consists of, it might be a good thing not to go cheap but.....if customer service is this dickish, why bother?

I'm out of the loop like the majority of people here but, I would've/have a problem with how the situation is handled.

I just hope that all this gets resolved soon, and TMA is back up and running. No offence Nightshade but this isn't TMA.....lol. Wink

I dont think we are going back to the old server (Correct me if im wrong), I think mort has plans already to move off that server anyways so this was a good reason to make it sooner now.

That's the gist of it. TMA was moving anyway, but the OLD server went down before Mort was able to back up the data so he would be able to move it from the OLD server to the NEW server. When TMA comes back up, it will be on the new server, minus a few days' worth of posts and a years' worth of uploads.

Mort has always been the Lead (and sole) programmer / Founder /Owner of TMA. It had many stages of life. i personally came to it officially when TMA had the TMB release date countdown on the front page.

MK Was the treasurer, meaning he was paying the 100$$ bill a month, but he just cant do it anymore. There was always a need for donations to help him out.

Where is Mort in all this though? Like, he never comes around anymore. I know there really isnt much going on TM wise but he at least used to post and reply here and there to people threads. I bet most of the newer people dont even know who he is really.

Not that it matters but it seems like he should have been the one telling us himself what was/is going on and asking for donations personally as well as thanking those who have donated. Im not trying to sound like a dick or anything honestly it just seems like he always relays stuff through the Admins.
