The NXE supposedly GREATLY increased the frequency of 360s seeing that error screen somehow. If it becomes a widespread problem though--which it sounds like is happening, then Microsoft is eventually going to have to start fixing them for free otherwise people will come together and win a class-action suit. That's the reason Microsoft fixed the RRoDs without question probably because some crazy ~30 percent of their consoles had it.

I just hope if mine breaks it does it under warranty.

What do you mean ate a disc? Sounds kinda like what happened to my Gears 2 disc when my 360 decided to destroy it.

Problems aside I still cant hate my 360 or microsoft for it. I still loved my PS2 in the same way. No matter how many I had to replace or secretly swap out with someone else working machine, I could never bring myself to hate it.

I wonder what the failure rate for PS2s was versus 360s. I've heard a lot of people had problems with PS2s but I'm pretty sure the 360 failure rate is setting new records.

I never had these problems with systems before **knock on wood*** except my x360 gave the E error loading all the time but that was it. Micro fixed it and been good ever since. All my other systems worked perfectly. I am compulsive when it comes to my things:

No one touches my games or systems. I make all the game switches.
No one borrows my things
No one eats, drinks, smokes near my games or consoles
I use a cloth to wipe over the surface areas of all my systems to keep from dust build up

Yea its bad guys, like the rest of my anxiety problems

Interesting now that you mention it...my PS2 broke down at roughly the same point in its lifespan as my 360, about a year and a half after purchase for both. But with the PS2, I had the balls to open the sonofabitch up and fix the problem myself, which I had to to keep doing periodically for a few years until I finally gave up and bought a slimline model. No fucking way I'm doing that with the 360 though. I'd sooner try to repair an alien spacecraft.

So a year and a half is the lifespan-until-repair of consoles now? Fuck that. You know how many times my Super Nintendo has broken down? None.

My PS2 is my only other console to have any trouble, and it was several years in, and it still played DVDs just not CD games. And they fixed it for free and it was fine after that. My 360 died within ~3-4 months the first time, and now about a year later it's dead again. I would be inclined to think the death rate for 360s is higher, but that may be partly because of my relatively stable history with the PS2.
