Well it must be just Gears then that doesnt allow splitscreeners on one account in ranked games, but it was always that way from what I remember so I dont understand the big controversy. L4D still has splitscreening on one account so thats all that matters to me.

As far as splitscreening goes I dont think its that big of a deal. I mean it does suck I guess if you are used to having the screen for yourself, but with the current gen games the graphics are usually not sacrificed much in splitscreen so you dont lose as much quality as say older games. I have a friend whos a nazi about splitscreening because he is also a screen and graphics whore but personally it doesnt seem to bother me like it used to back in the day.

Also I see Magnum that you have already discovered the double edged sword that is playing games with a girlfriend or wife. It seems perfect at first but it can turn ugly quickly. Depending on the game me and my girlfriend have fought or got pissed at each other over a game plenty of times. Ive never asked her to quit so others could play but I have made her quit plenty of times but talking shit and stuff, just joking around of course. Its either that or we will argue over the best way to do something in the game.

Actually in an interview I saw the other day the devs said that they were in fact NOT going to patch it for co-op or splitscreen even though everyone wants that in the game.

well, I got a few problems with split-screen; one, its not the sacrifice of graphics, its the fact that I'm gettin ripped off for half my screen. and on a 19" tv (what I've had for over a decade), thats a huge take. and 2, some games display differently on split-screen than in a normal game. for example, Need For Speed.. in split screen, the tach and speedo are displayed differently.. the tach is damn-near impossible to read, resulting in me fucking up shifts and the like which is really costly in drag races. and 3, in games where location is part of your strategy, the person you're playing can just look at your side of the screen and know where you're at (irritating in games where you're trying to hide/camp etc)

either way Mag, you still got a cool wife. the only way my girl encourages me to play is if she's on the comp in the same room. for whatever reason, she likes watching me play TMB and GTA.. but when my sis comes over and we break out the GameCube and the RE games, she gets bored and says that I'm ignoring her.. its fucking annoying

I am not dissappointed with no split screen in KZ2, but it will be a good reason to go back to it to play co op with a friend all over again as i do plan on playing the game again eventually on a harder setting and will be all the more fun on co op. So whenever it comes out i can wait. But the game really is awesome. The Helghast are relentless and aggressive. I still think our player is a midget or something and I would have liked a 3rd person option like Fallout 3 has . But thats just a fantasy of mine.

Well guys, My PS3 stopped reading discs finally yesterday after work. I tried movies and ps3 games and I get a "Disc Error" 80010514 - Disc error detected. Retrying operation. Then it loops until i cancel operation. I tried restarting the PS3 to no avail. This pisses me off.

Looks like ill be calling Sony today and fucking rip them a new ass hole!!!!

Is sony as reliable as the microsoft support on the X360?

It says most (90%) of the people that get it, get it "right out of the box", within a month of purchase.  Sony says the problem is very uncommon, and they will ask you to reset your settings to factory to see if that fixes it before they will ask you to send it in.  Most of the time the factory reset fixes it though.

It seems to be a problem with the blu ray reader itself, not so much as dust/smoke/dirt as in my problem but the actual reader failing.  Sony should fix it for you, I just hope you have a way to back up your hard drive.

Np, glad you got it worked out, and extra glad you could talk them into fixing it for free.  Your horror story actually motivated me (which doesn't happen often) to backup my PS3 hard drive and finally switch it to the 250GB HD I bought on eBay about a year ago.  Took only an hour or so...
