...and along with my own experiences, I think I have it narrowed down as to which versions have the best image quality (along with being reliable):

-PS2 fat/original slim with LevelHike HDMI
-PS4 Pro
-PSCX2

Not listing the fat PS3 due to it's YLOD issues (both my 60 and 80gb systems died. Now I just have a working, top-loader slim).

The LevelHike HDMI has breathed new life into my fat PS2 and looks fantastic; but I have yet to experience the other 2 options. PS4 Pro looks appealing thanks to the added trophy support. PSCX2 looks appealing thanks to it's customization and how you can push the boundaries of it's visual quality. And then of course playing on PS2 original hardware with HDMI is appealing given that it is not emulation.

So what is your favorite way to play? Or is there a better way I haven't listed?


Ps: I was inspired to make this post because I'm thinking about buying a PS4 Pro for a Black Friday deal this year to play TMB and War of the Monsters w/ trophy support (and hopefully even better looking than my fat PS2 with HDMI).

You don't need a PS4 pro.  The PS4 version is identical.

Still,  sure,  if you want the pro,  get it.

I rarely mess with the offline version,  but when I do,  yeah the PS4 version is the best experience.

I don't have PS4 or PS4 Pro. I figured if I get one, I should go for the Pro. Then again, perhaps PS5 will have TMB and maybe it will play better...

I still need to check out TMBO. Sounds like I might be missing out on the best TMB experience...

Even though I have it on PS2, PS3, AND PS4, I mainly play it on PS4 nowadays.  The PS3 port constantly upscales itself, slowing down the gameplay painfully.

Ok, just recently ordered the original, launch PS4 with P.T. Silent Hills pre-installed off Ebay and it's on it's way... 😁

It's good to know that PS4 and Pro are identical for TMB (and I will assume the same holds true for other PS2 classics) because, honestly, it'd probably be best not to hear a jet flying around in the living room while gaming.

Looking on the PS store and there is a PS4 bundle with TMB, War of the Monsters and Kinetica for $19.99. It will also be playable on PS5. Definitely getting it.

Currently playing with my OG set-up. Phat PS3 with a game capture card.


Thought about playing it via emulator so I could reclaim some of my deskspace back.
