I knew you were a fruad when you came in here toting you could rip models from TMX and even just posted a link to prove it. Nice.

It's like I've said in the past. Anyone can do it if they have the time and patience. |

I've been working on this project for over 2 years.

Is there any way to get these running in something like Unity? Also, any luck extracting models from the original game?

Yeah thats what im doing. Everything is finally extracted and UV mapped. I have TMHO, TMB, few things from TM4, Sweettooth from Rocket League, and PSASBR. There is so much to go through. Then with my HD progress of the worlds I might just use the originals as a reference to TM1-TM4. Everything is looking pretty good so far just need to find a game that I can port this over too. Or like you said build my own in Unity which I have no clue how to use.

Wait, so what's your end goal?

PC version of the game. With levels from 1-2012
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zNVrN3xdyM Metro Square is going to take awhile though. I have most of the other maps just the 2012 series is going to take awhile. I did port some to GTA V already https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIiWWIVKTfU |

What's your plan to deal with the different control physics? Or are you going to just leave those as is?

I’ve been messing around with Unity trying to build something Twisted Metal related, mostly rebuilding the classic levels from scratch. I would be interested in using some of these models, but I’m undecided whether I’d rather build from the original vehicles or use the ones from 2012. |

That looks amazing, only thing it’s missing is a driver. Looks like the renders you would see in advertising. Do you have the ability to rip textures from the game as well? I’ve been looking for the ones from Black forever so I can repurpose them into something for Unity.

Maybe ... but unless you have a solid plan for the physics itself, it's hard to really understand what you're trying to do. Tuning a game to play like Twisted Metal is arguably the most important and hardest part. Will it look like TM but play like Grand Theft Auto? |
Title: Re: Twisted Metal 2012 Model Extractor Post by †Adonael on 03/30/20 at 14:03:46
Short answer is yes Kil. GTA isn't quite open to modification to the physics. In order to do that there would be some high level hacking/ reverse engineering. V was not intended to be modified quite in that way.
I suppose you could turn the handbreaks effectiveness up, and a few smaller modifications like so, but you couldn't start with a completely different game and MAKE it feel 100% like twisted metal. If you are going through that much trouble, then in short, you should of just made your own game. |

I dont think I said I wasnt making my own. These are just a couple mods I did for a friend. This is not my project. I'm looking at several options but Unity looking like my best best. That or the complete model swap of "Gas Guzzlers" or "Diesel Guns" and you can mod GTA in anyway. Down to gravity.. So yes its possible. Already playing around with vehicle handling.cfg and the .xml to get the physics exactly like TM along with torque and braking.
